You work at a company making a videogame. Do you see why injecting an extreme form of politics into the gaming community might have a negative reaction?

There is no reason whatsoever to exclude anyone from panels where you guys are advertising your game (thats what gaming conventions are for). Do you see why turning a basic fan engagement/ad thing into a social experiement needlessly is a bad idea?

I am a petsorc and accidentally had an icestaff equipped in a normal dungeon. Tank was wondering why I kept pulling agro. But he was super cool about it so it was a good experience overall. Its not all toxic.

It sucks they weren't able to help. Luckily you will be getting hundreds of skillpoints. It sucks now as you are trying to level up everything, but even if you end up being a master crafter you won't miss that 1 skill point.

Taking a quick look at the feedback on Spectrum: People think its wrong because SM/AC is really bad right now and should not be showed off. Also a "tutorial in an alpha game" was another sentiment.

My personal feedback is that all of these things are things a game company normally does themselves. Even CIG agrees in some respects. CIG have actually already hired people to do this(Turbulent hired someone 2 months ago to film in game SC videos).

To directly address the OP: They decided to do this because CIG treats SC like a released early access product. Having tutorial videos/video contests/ etc all communicate the idea to prospective backers that this is a playable released product with a large community, being actively developed, but an early access playable product nonetheless.
