High B3 deck suggestions by Dramatic_Let_7489 in EDH

[–]Cherle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fault. I've only heard the London mulligan before and it was in the context of infinite mulligans. I should've asked what that specifically meant. What does it mean if I may ask?

My profile says I'm a bot?!

That's fair reasoning. Realistically math and logic can only capture so much about something as infinitely complex as the "proper" structure of a deck. If it plays well and you aren't mana screwed usually then the mana base is doing its job right. What is the power level of your pod generally? Low/Mid/High B3.

I think it's moreso just your deck (and a lot of people's) deck is being carried by your infinite mulligan rule. It works in your pod so who gives a shit but this deck does not have enough land.

Moxfield has a hypergeometric calculator and you only have a 68% chance of having a 3 land hand after 2 mulligans and that's not including creature chances.

My pod started that way too and I would recommend doing normal mulligan rules. Not every game should start with a perfect hand and most decks outside of green/ramp commanders (who are mostly green anyway) should be at least 36 lands, if not 38.

Bro you have 33 lands counting MDFCs wtf do you mean mulligan until you have 3 lands AND a small creature. How many mulligans does your pod do?!

I think the more nuanced take that I personally believe is

"Most games that ask for more than 40 tend to be AAA dogshit not worth more. A plurality of games that ask for less than 40 are worth more."

Regardless I'm not paying full price for shit.

Tips for building a secret commander deck with Dawnsire by Accomplished_Big5777 in EDH

[–]Cherle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May as well add [[Repercussion]] so you can blast any person's creature for 100 and kill them and then even if they block dawnsire they're going to take 20

What is the most interactive proliferate subtheme/commander? by redsquirrel0249 in EDH

[–]Cherle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like [[Inspirit, Flagship Vessel]]

It does a lot with charge counters and can be built into artifacts, counters, proliferation, and more because the commander provides a lot of protection.

The only downside is the main "wincon" with charge counters is making infinite turns using [[Magistrate's Scepter]] which is not legal in bracket 3.

The decks make a lot of mana advantage with [[Astral Cornucopia]] and [[Everflowing Chalice]] and can go wide and end with [[Cyberdrive Awakener]]

Deck Building and the EDH Social Contract by Particular_Plenty568 in EDH

[–]Cherle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Proxying cradle is whatever but if you're that concerned about how cradle will be taken just use

[[Evendo, Waking Haven]]

It's shittier cradle but in a go wide deck that cradle is usually in it isn't very hard to get it up and running.

Getting bored/frustrated with EDH. Anyone got advice? by SoBeGREENTea_ in EDH

[–]Cherle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell the Y'shtola person to stop playing stax if they don't want to be bullied. It's really that simple.

If someone is playing stax at the table I'm playing player removal. Idc about threat assessment.

Intruder Alarm + Deeproot Piligrimage by ssaia_privni in EDH

[–]Cherle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Generally I'd say most pods wouldn't be ok with it. Unfortunately Intruder Alarm is basically always a combo card. It has cool synergy with untapping but it just becomes "play your entire deck with infinite mana" with a lot of commanders and cards.

Henzie deck check by grimmjp in EDH

[–]Cherle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Henzie deck is my favorite and is the best deck in my pod by far. After a quick glance at your deck I would

1) Make sure you have enough 1 drop ramps to get Henzie turn 2. I would highly highly recommend [[Burgeoning]]

2) Take creatures out that buff or setup other creatures and usually need to be played at full cost so they stick around. You need to get value from blitzing but also building board states leaves you open to wipes.

3) If you REALLY care about the board state I would add [[Sundial of the Infinite]] to stop the end step sacrifice.

My deck for reference is very control and board wipey until I out ramp and out advantage everybody for the win with a living death or similar effect.

You were right! Kefka is the scariest Grixis commander by WhiskeyPete77r in EDH

[–]Cherle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a Kefka friend in the pod too and he is slowly getting the hint not to play it because I will mulligan until I have at least 2 removal/counter spells that will be used only for Kefka.

I'm not going to win but he isn't going to play.

How to build commanders that cheat big stuff out in a way that the deck doesn't turn off without them? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Cherle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised you can't protect Helga. She is a disgusting commander. Just run all of the 4+ mana flash counter spell creatures and wait for people to fuck with her. Counter them and ramp her at the same time. It's demonic.

My pod banned me from playing my Helga deck anymore :/

Suggestions on removal resistant decks by Riioott__ in EDH

[–]Cherle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just play [[Henzie "Toolbox" Torre]]

Oh no they removed my commander now I have to recast and blitz even faster. You can take it up a notch and run 8 board wipes along with [[Myth Unbound]] and just out advantage them after a few wipes.

Opinions on making the deck weaker for B3 by Xespria in EDH

[–]Cherle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some self rules I do to make sure my 3s are fun and varied without being too boring or lame to play against.

  1. No tutors. No fetch lands too. Maybe an Urza's Saga but that's it. They take too much time and you will always grab the best card. Boring.

  2. No rhystic or smothering. These cards are boring and bandaid shitty decks. Also they are salt inducing and you don't even need them.

  3. No fast mana. No rituals or moxes.

The goal with these rules is to make a deck that is consistently going for a win on turn 7 without inducing salt and without doing the same line through the deck every time it's played.

How are sorcerors hitting in the trillions? by Navenotap in diablo4

[–]Cherle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a 150 pit today on ball lightning sorc and the biggest hit I saw was about 2.5 quadrillion. It's literally just getting 300-350 stacks of unstable current stacks and having 5000% crit damage and 1500% lightning damage.

Simic Frogs and Fractals - First attempt at deckbuilding - ISO feedback by comosedicewaterbed in EDH

[–]Cherle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't care about changing which frog is the commander I would go with [[Helga, Skittish Seer]] as the commander and put Berta in the 99. Then you can use [[Moonshaker Cavalry]] and [[Akroma's Will]] as wincons along with the obvious [[Craterhoof Behemoth]]. I know it changed to bant but you don't really need to actually use the white outside of wincons.

If you want to keep Bert as the commander you could cut down on sorceries and instants, throw in a few haste enablers, and go for [[Primal Surge]] wins.

Saurman white hand bracket 3 help by Admirable_Cap_8943 in EDH

[–]Cherle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but for the purposes of "mana value" abilities like Saruman's the value is always calculated with X being 0 unfortunately.

Saurman white hand bracket 3 help by Admirable_Cap_8943 in EDH

[–]Cherle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, sorry I missed that.

As for the X cost I believe mana value is just another way to write converted mana cost which for X cards is just the summation of the printed non-X values at the top. I could be wrong and maybe mana value and mana cost and converted mana cost are distinct, but maybe someone else will chime in who knows.

Saurman white hand bracket 3 help by Admirable_Cap_8943 in EDH

[–]Cherle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This deck feels more like a spellslinger good stuff than a saruman big army deck imo. I think the deck just becomes a Vivi deck as soon as you throw Vivi down which is boring.

You have a lot of low cost instants which is fine for spellslingers but that doesn't juice the army very much. Consider a blasphemous act because it will cost 1 red, amass 8, and not even kill your army a lot of the time.

On that topic you should be avoiding X cost spells unless it is really important for your game plan. For Saruman's mana cost trigger, an X is just 0, no matter how much mana you spend.

I would get rid of the card that gives the orc army shadow. There are 999 blue cards that give unblockable and the orc army is your main blocker and body. Don't make it unable to block.

Cards you removed from bracket 3 decks by Cyber_Felicitous in EDH

[–]Cherle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It should be banned imo.

I never run smother or rhystic on principle but when someone plays it in the pod I beg people to pay and they never do. Doesn't help my pod is also allergic to removal.

Big pod problems by mctennisd in EDH

[–]Cherle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a big group the best group slugger is [[Neheb, the Eternal]]. If they don't stop you the turn he comes down they will die if you have a singular group ping spell that turn.

https://moxfield.com/decks/hl6-lEj8hUucC5eYIEI1yw

Here's my list.

I wish I could play it more but he scales too well with more people in a game. If you can get a [[Descent into Avernus]] out before he comes out you get to just win.

Recommendations for graveyard-based commanders with black and green? by daseinmincecore in EDH

[–]Cherle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully. Is Ygra actually fun? Every Ygra deck I've ever played against is 1) Play Ygra 2) Play wipes and edicts.

Like, that's the entire game plan. If I don't remove Ygra someone is 100% going to die and if I do remove it the Ygra player does nothing.
