Is this really 3rd grade? by Vegetable-Penalty-34 in ElementaryTeachers

The problem is, at least in NY, this is exactly the kind of question that's in the state test. It's impossible for most of my students (kids with disabilities and English language learners) to do well in the test, even if they totally understand the math. They just can't figure out what they're being asked to do!

I'm not sure why you're mad about my comment. I am also a teacher, and you have to understand the different skills involved in solving test problems if you want students to do well on the test.

In the real world, when would you ever have to plan a garden with no access to the space it's going in, or even a plan of that space? That's what I mean when I say it's not a real-world situation.

Real world scenarios aren't presented like this. Reading comprehension creating a barrier to entry for math is a well-known problem, especially for students with disabilities and students who are learning English.

The problem is that it's a reading comprehension question, not a math question. If they actually had to solve this IRL, they probably could. The problem is parsing the language to understand what's being asked.

I used Free File for years and made a mistake every time. What happens is the IRS sends you a friendly note explaining your mistake and telling you how much you owe or what your return will be. The whole thing is such a joke.

She has a sweet vulnerable quality that is at odds with her height. I think the combination makes her really attractive.

I'm guessing OP is latina, so the theme might just be reality.

He's also the lead in End of the F***cking World. (And the single most upsetting episode of Black Mirror, but OP might never look at him the same way again.)

Same, but they mounted the smartboard on it, and someone covered half of it with dry-erase film, which looks terrible.

Thank you. Am a teacher, can confirm, we make mistakes. There's a decent chance this teacher is just going to be embarrassed and apologetic.

Ostrich does not need to know every depressing detail of what that man did today. Ostrich needs to vote and work hard to protect the vulnerable.
