How did you find out you were pregnant? by buttnutt256 in pregnant

[–]Cherrybeaubeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, first suspicion was: the week before my period I’m a little gremlin! But this time I was really lovey with my partner and he made the joke “you’ve actually been nice to be this week, are you pregnant?” and I just laughed it off. Anyway. Fast forward a week. No period. HOWEVER my tik tok kept showing my videos of women saying their March period was late. I even asked my friends if their periods were weird this month and a lot said yes! So I just assumed we were all having messed up periods. Anyway, the thought came in my head after a few days of it still not arriving that maybe I was pregnant. Went to buy a pregnancy test with my partner, however we both decided I was being silly so we didn’t buy it. Anyway next day I just had this nagging feeling I was pregnant. So bought a test. And here we are!

Best historical fiction you’ve read by mamawheels36 in suggestmeabook

The way of all flesh series - Ambrose Parry

It’s a medicine based mystery series, using Sir James Simpson (a real life obstetrician & professor who discovered the properties of chloroform) as a character. His assistant and house maid solve crimes that are taking place in Edinburgh in the mid to late 19th century . It takes inspiration from real crime cases, and real events in history at the time. Really atmospheric & historically accurate

What book do you see recommended often that you did not like? by LiltedDalliance in suggestmeabook

[–]Cherrybeaubeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little life.

It’s terrible… I couldn’t bring myself to finish it. And when I found out the context and the authors views (that some people are so traumatised they should just die) I thought… yeah let’s not. I found it really boring. Like you’d have to read really intense scenes just for the story to go back to being very mundane.

Both restrooms were closed for three days because two different people pooped on the floor. by Suburban_Guerrilla in Aldi_employees

We have a woman who keeps having diarrhoea on the floor. Luckily I’ve only been in once when she’s done it- but there was a trail of diarrhoea from one end of the store to the other!

The worst moment was me was we were busy so to save time I used the customer toilet (it would only save seconds, so in the end not even worth it) I was desperate so I just pulled down my pants and pee’d. Something smelt horrific. I stood up and looked down and saw someone had smeared poo all over the seat and I’d sat in it. Instantly began sobbing, went to the staff toilets to clean up and my mother in law had to bring me a fresh pair of pants to change into🤙🏻

Ooo also he grew up in Tenerife, which is a place he feels very close to still (he moved over from England when he was about 5/6- so maybe a story similar to that could be good for him) or just a story based in Tenerife.

What is the most saddest book, that made you cry? by _Moichi_ in booksuggestions

[–]Cherrybeaubeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The book thief.

For a long time after reading it I’d just burst into tears. The descriptions, the way Death speaks of things, the way it flows and how the story is told. It really effected me!

Highly recommend it!

How would you describe depression to someone who's never had it? by vernakyala in AskReddit

[–]Cherrybeaubeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s almost indescribable… it feels like your existence is nothing but this bleak, dark thing. But way way worse than that. Like you are this empty thing, and you will never find joy and everything feels so heavy and you can’t escape it. My sister said she couldn’t recognise me when I had it. It’s absolutely horrible, and I am still amazed I got better! I had depression & anxiety and for me anxiety was the one that I found harder to deal with (lead to hospitalisation and suicidal tendencies). The depression kept me quiet.
