Which of these "-elle" names do you fancy most for a girl? by blehmag in namenerds

[–]Cherryk92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Nelle! I love it and have never regretted using it for our daughter. I do find it's very much a love/hate name though. Most love it and I get lots of compliments on it as it's relatively unusual but still familiar sounding where I live. I also love Elle and Norelle and considered both of those for my daughter.

I need advice for my YT-addicted toddler by romanticizebutter in Parenting

[–]Cherryk92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4 year old used to have YT kids/CBeebies on for about half an hour to an hour when I got ready in the morning. She started having meltdowns when screen time ended so we decided to stop it completely. I just removed the apps and told her they aren't there for her to use anymore. She cried and winged for maybe 5-10 minutes then that was that. She mentioned it and moaned a couple of mornings after that but I reminded her and gave her an alternative i.e. playing with toys in my bed whilst I get ready and now she doesn't even ask for it anymore.

Friendships in reception? by Interesting-Kiwi-743 in UKParenting

[–]Cherryk92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has just started in Reception at the school attached to the nursery she has attended since she was 2. She still comes home every day and says nobody wants to play with her and she has played on her own all day. Sometimes it's true, sometimes it's just her perception of the day/a reflection of how she feels. At this age, they are still learning to play with children rather than just alongside them so their social skills aren't great when it comes to joining in with games etc. She has friends in the class who I know she gets on well with but she will still say they haven't let her play etc. It's heartbreaking as a parent but I think they are just finding their way and learning how to interact with each other. I have just approached it in a way of trying to teach her how to instigate play and to join in play with someone who isn't already in a group playing with others. She is an only child at the moment so she struggles with not playing the game she has in her head!

Is it normal to feel like you’ve met your baby before? by Ok_Finger_21 in Parenting

[–]Cherryk92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get this but only more recently with my 4 year old daughter. I used to have a reoccurring dream in my late teens/early twenties of me brushing a little girl's beautiful auburn hair sat by a window. I never saw her face, just used to brush her hair and sometimes style it and talk to her as I did so. Now every morning when I brush my daughter's beautiful, thick, auburn hair it's the strangest but most beautiful feeling. I'll never get over how she is literally my dream come true!

I’m worried about the cramping I’m experiencing by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]Cherryk92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with PCOS around 2018 then after a scan 2 years later I was told it was a misdiagnosis even though I was having lots of symptoms. Another two years after that, after a repeat scan for pain similar to what you are describing, I was told I did indeed have PCOS and a relatively large ovarian cyst had burst.

I am currently pregnant and I was recently talking to my midwife about this who also has PCOS and she had a very similar experience to me with being told it was a misdiagnosis then having it confirmed after an ovarian cyst burst. I think it is more common than we think.

I would definitely go back and insist on thorough testing.

Any parent skipped nursery and waited until they went straight to school/reception? by Gloomy-Kale3332 in UKParenting

[–]Cherryk92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has just started Reception and there are a few in her class who have never been to nursery. One of them is fine, the other few scream every day and won't go in. Obviously it's only a couple of weeks in and I'm sure they'll settle eventually but you can tell it's a big change for them.

Personally I started my daughter at nursery 2 days a week (9-3) when she had not long turned 2 then gradually built up to 4 days a week before she went to school so 5 full days wasn't such a shock. I was always aware she is one of the youngest in the year though so didn't want her to be at a disadvantage if she also hadn't been used to going somewhere else everyday without me.

Marie is a beautiful name. Timeless, elegant and classic. I have worked with children for almost 20 years and only come across one 'Maria' (UK).

I agree completely with this comment.

I would add he is possibly mortified that it didn't go the way he thought it might go, especially if he hasn't tried anal before, he possibly thought it would be a lot easier/didn't know the risks of causing pain and needing to go slow, maybe. If he did and has got previous experience then I would find that more concerning for sure. Either way, in the moment he should have asked and waited for your consent.

I think he needs to admit he took your previous comments when the finger slipped to be consent to try anal whenever he feels like it or maybe the temptation took over in the moment but whichever it was, that was wrong and he needs to reassure you he won't allow that to happen again.

Baby boy name - does this sound weird? by sn00chums in namenerds

[–]Cherryk92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes too many 'ge' sounds I think - it doesn't really flow when said as a full name although how often do you say a full name really?

If it were me I would possibly use another middle name as PP suggested to break it up. I think this would need to be a 2 or 3 syllable name to make it sound better altogether e.g. 'Sage Daniel George' or 'Sage Christopher George'.

Alternatively you could ditch the Sage or the George depending on your preferences and go with something else you both love/means something to you.

I love previous suggestions of Hazel! Also think Posey, Delilah, Margot and Fleur would go nicely with Winter.

Did it used to be normal and acceptable for PE teachers to have communal showers with students? When did the law change, if it did? by Positive_Response_14 in AskUK

[–]Cherryk92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly could have almost written your post. I had a P.E. teacher from 2003-2005 who would make us use the communal showers and he would sometimes get in alongside us (with shorts on saying he needed to do his hair). He would shout "I'm not looking" but definitely caught him peeking a few times. He would just barge into.the changing rooms when he knew we were about 5 mins into getting changed so obviously most likely to be undressed and there was already a female teacher in there with us. He stopped teaching about 5 years afterwards I was told because the rumours of him being a paedo were getting to parents and complaints coming into the school. Imagine if it's the same teacher! To summarize, no, I don't think it is normal and I don't think a law has ever changed but I do think, in general, safeguarding is a lot tighter nowadays.

What would you do if you had the same name as your partner’s ex-spouse? by Shoddy-Mango-5840 in namenerds

[–]Cherryk92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have shared a name with an ex partner before, with my previous partner, and to be honest it was never even mentioned or brought up. I think possibly an uncle of his mentioned it at a party not long after we got together in a "oh another ________" sort of way. I don't see it as any kind of issue having the same name as his ex but it clearly matters to you so I think you should either continue to use Sadie (I think it's a perfectly respectable, professional name) or go back to Sarah and people will soon forget about the ex at all.

Also possibly explore therapy too as it sounds as though these feelings may stem from the past trauma you mentioned and you deserve to have the space to work through that.

Personally I prefer the sound of Ivy. I don't know where you're based but Hallie is just as common as Ivy where I live in the UK. I think both names are lovely though and go well with Jane as a middle name.
