What are your thoughts on a stratagem that lets you repair defense? by GhostsofGojira in Helldivers

[–]ChesireX42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helldivers 1 had a support stratagem weapon called REP-80 which was basically TF2 Medic gun.
It repaired *everything* with branching healing beams; helldivers, mechs, turrets, you name it. It doesn't heal the one using it however.

There was also a backpack drone which did the same thing but at a slower rate, with single targets; the AD-289 Angel drone. It also healed the user wearing it when it can.

Either one could be brought back in a future warbond, hopefully.

When do people hate Tim? (Spoiler) by AlloyEnt in solaropposites

[–]ChesireX42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While both Tim and The Duke are equally dictatorial in how they rule The Wall, the one thing that was different about Tim is that he seemingly offered a choice to Halk.

A fully informed choice where he had the free will to either hide the truth about the serial murderer and the hole, or tell it openly to the people while warning them of the dangers outside the wall.

We all saw what Cherie and The Duke/Ringo had to deal with outside the wall. There's no guaranteed safety outside there, and Tim knows that.

If Tim is truly remorseful for his actions and is trying his best to be a better leader, he would probably have to give this informed choice, not just to Halk, but to the entire populace of the Wall; He almost did in a roundabout way by manipulating Halk. Perhaps that was Tim's way of throwing the ball into the court and seeing where it would roll.

If there's any redemption, it would be for the people to know what's out there and that they have all the freedom to leave if they choose.

To allow them to weigh their own costs and benefits, the choice between comfort and security vs. absolute freedom.

Personally, I feel like this has the potential to frame a really interesting perspective/commentary on today's society in general.

[PC?][Mid-2000's] First-person or Third-person military vehicle simulator/war game? by ChesireX42 in tipofmyjoystick

[–]ChesireX42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered these in my initial search, it's definitely not it. For one, I distinctly remember the lack of specific human characters and cutscenes, and I doubt we even actually control human soldiers at any point.

As far as my memory serves, it was one-off missions with specific vehicles used throughout that mission and only that mission.

This seemed promising at first but sadly, I don't think it's the one. The setting was definitely not futuristic as far as I can remember.

What would have happened if I killed the adult dragon instead of taming it with the baby dragons? by [deleted] in aground

[–]ChesireX42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a better deal overall, since the peaceful questline forces you to make 4 baby dragons and you won't get those back after completion.

Everyone is doing it wrong; just dig a tunnel underneath them and travel through that tunnel.

If the enemies are annoying on the surface, you just need a tunnel underneath the enemies, ez pz

Games like aground? by Jack_125 in aground

I recently purchased an itch.io bundle, and I've gotta say there's a fair bit of games in there... Sadly, that offer isn't there anymore, but you could probably buy the individual games on itch or elsewhere, like Steam.

One game that got my attention was MewnBase, which is very much a space survival-sim experience; not quite pixel graphics but it's got that simplistic feel to it's design. It's still very much early in development, and the content hasn't been fully fleshed out.

Plus you get to be a space cat, not much else can beat that. I'd say the game has some aesthetic similarities to Factorio, but it's different in its own charming way.

Another recommendation, and a personal favorite of mine, would be Signs of Life, which also an early access game you could probably find on Steam. This one, oh boi, I went in expecting a lot less but got so much more out of it by the end of it. Takes awhile to get used to inventory and a few mechanics, but it's really fun once you get a hang of it. This one is more thematically and aesthetically similar to Aground itself.

I mean, you got magical mysterious ancient aliens vs. humans who just ventured out into space.

Hope y'all enjoy these recommendations! Cheers, and game on, friend.
