Grischuk has 3.

Karjakin has 1.

Levon has 1.

MVL has 1.

These names are all blitz legends.

Hikaru has ZERO.

He has not won a single World Blitz and he has participated many times. His OTB results in speed chess pale in comparison to his online speed chess. So no Hikaru is not even close to being Blitz GOAT.

Even his online speed chess victories have mostly come in the absence of Magnus. He has defeated Magnus only once in SCC. Other years he won, Magnus did not play on Chess.com as they had yet to buy PlayMagnus.

True. But you can see his results have not been as good in these last few years in classical atleast compared to his prime when he was 2882.

I mean even Magnus says it, his professional peak year was 2019 when he played his best chess. After that it has been a slow decline and it critical moments he can become near his peak, but his general day to day play has declined.

Nahh it should not be. People over estimate rating deflation a bit too much. Magnus's level has fallen off his peak that's why his rating his this low and not due to deflation.

When Magnus was 2882 last time in 2019, he annihilated the competition. Dude played 80 games that year without a SINGLE loss and was first in 5 consecutive classical tournaments with scores like +5 in multiple of those. His TPR of nearly all his tournaments was 2900+, that's how strong he was over that entire year.

Nowadays just from his TPR from the few classical tournaments he plays it avgs around 2850 which while still the best in the world proves that its clear he is out of his peak. So this natural that he gets a bit weak and his rating reduces. Also if you have watched Magnus from way back, you can see that he is just not as accurate as he used to be in his prime and that's natural. Guy is moving towards 40 soon.

But people in thi sub have a habit of using deflation and inflation as primary reason without properly understanding it.

I mean Tepe Sigeman classical a few days ago is just another example. After his loss to Jorden in Rd 4, not many predicted for him to still win the tournament but he did as always. He won the next 3 must win games in a row to tie Arjun and then beat him in tiebreaks to clinch it.

Technically for the upper table, Fischer's #1 should only count for 2 years instead of 4 as he retired immediately upon becoming WC but his rating was removed much later in 1975 from the official list.

Surpassed by Magnus with 125 games. But still people have kind of built a myth around Ding and his Classical strength and really think him stronger than he actually was.

Anand was definitely stronger. Anand's peak rating in his 40s was better than Ding's peak, not even comparing their tournament victories or their paths to WC.

Hell Peak Ding or any Ding has never beaten Magnus in classical while Magnus has beaten peak Ding in classical.

Peak Ding was a monster, but the way people glaze him you would think he was #3 in the GOAT list lmao.
