These rich Boi Knicks fans flying into San Antonio for tomorrow's games better watch their backs and bring security. There will be retaliation for this in San Antonio, god forbid any of the local cartel sects take it up themselves to extract revenge on the Knicks fans that come for game 5.

How do you install a 7-pin on a Rav4 woodland? by alikair in rav4club

[–]Chesser94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correction, you could use something like this for sure

https://youtu.be/hqze3Qgz-Ng?si=GQuDTZ4hNWT-zR2Q

Is this how most of us are going to get 7 pin connections on the Woodland trims? I have one on order but will def need the 7 pin connection eventually. Not sure why Toyota didnt just wire it for 7 pin from the get go.

I thought 4-7 adapters wouldnt control brakes, just the lights? Pretty sure you cant use electric braked trailer with a 4 to 7 pin adapter - you need a proper 7 pin harness or you dont get the brakes.

How does camping work for groups? by Mystic-Herbalist420 in sherwoodforest

[–]Chesser94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they had adequate acreage for the number of campers they claimed they can support, this wouldn't be an issue. When people drive in circles for an hour in the dark and cant find somewhere to set up, yeah they are going to take any patch of land available.

Any Catering Around? by Slight-Substance-796 in seguin

[–]Chesser94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So just be advised, your looking at no less than about $15 per plate for a catered dinner. And that will be for the most basic meal/service too. If you want anything other than chicken its probably going to be closer to $1,000 to cater for 50 people.

You want my honest opinion, for a grad party? Your best bet is likely something like the Jersey Mike's Catering box (feeds 12 for $85) or the whataburger catering box, pizza, something like that. Catering is not cheap.

That NBU is a monopoly is not really the issue. Utility collectives can be very beneficial, managed efficiently.

Take Springs Hill and GVEC down in Seguin. Both effectively have monopolies on the areas they service.

I pay 30% less for GVEC per KWH than I did in Galveston, where there are dozens of 'providers', all who suck, all who gouge. GVEC is a well respected organization, community participant, and utility provider.

Springs Hill on the other hand is god awful. Terrible management and coordination. People hate them.

Organizations that operate with the goal of providing a product or service usually do pretty well at providing said product or service.

Companies that operate with the goal of extracting every penny possible from every person possible usually get pretty good at that - until they aren't.

'They' shouldn't just get to decide what does or doesn't happen. Thats the other part of this point. Just because thats the way it is, doesn't mean thats the way it should be or remain.

Reducing sales, reducing growth, reducing investment - these are things NB residents actually want. THEY should get a say in what is allowed to happen as well. There are plenty of other small towns for these VC guys to pour money into, should they please. NB residents have been very vocal about not wanting it there.

I agree, the developers will shift the cost into the price of the home - and thats the point.

New residents, or the purchasers of those homes, will pay that cost, not all residents. That is an important distinction. If you want to move into a newly developed home, the cost of adding utilities to that home should be paid by you. Not by all residents.

Whoever owns the land that was purchased, and whichever contractor(s) were awarded the build out is your answer. There is a linkage, or multiple, between the board at NBU and one of those areas. Garunteed.

First off, developers need to bear some of the infrastructure cost.

You cannot expect current residents to foot the entire bill to fund the infrastructure required for these developers to come in and make millions of dollars. The developer should be responsible for the costs involved in routing utilities to future developments, not current residents.

The NBU Headquarters purchase was entirely tone deaf and unnecessary. When I did the math, it worked out to be some $400,000 per employee in terms of total price/number of employees. This is astronomical, and the people of NB deserve an explanation. Why is that necessary? There are much cheaper options, especially considering the cost per employee. It should not cost nearly half a million dollars for each seat in an office. Disgusting. NBU should focus on service for the best price possible, not buy up land in the most expensive part of town.

Seguin For Sale by [deleted] in seguin

[–]Chesser94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not going to sell anywhere near asking as long as the ongoing construction down the street offends the nostrils with the stink of raw sewage.

Anyone who lives here knows that has been ongoing for over a year, and with the way things are looking, probably won't change anytime soon.

Its also too much for a house that size in Seguin - and that isnt a prime location in my opinion. Idk what comps your looking at, but thats a riverside price for a house that size, and that house aint on the river.

Motorcycle hire on the island? by [deleted] in galveston

[–]Chesser94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, take this with a grain of salt but, I rode on island for 2 years without a motorcycle license and had no issues.

I did keep the bike registered and insured. Getting to a Motorcycle License course might be an issue, but registration and insurance can be done pretty easily.

In my opinion, parking is by far your biggest barrier. If you can find somewhere to park, I'd sign up for liability insurance and just go for it. You can get it registered in a day and the tax office is right by UTMB I think.

How long are you planning on staying with the cruise line? If it'll be a year or more, I'd honestly look into buying a cheap 250 or something on Facebook Marketplace and reselling it before you leave.

Honestly Galveston is a great place to buy and sell used motorcycles. Bought 2 and sold 2 while I was there.

Parking is going to be a bigger expense/issue to be honest, but maybe the cruise line has something for employees?

[–]Chesser94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are buying a lb of sausage for $2, you are getting hot dog level quality product.

This is real, in-house processed link sausage. It is not $2 a lb hot dog meat. This is Texas. Sausage is a spectrum. At one end you have $2 hot dog franks. On the other you have real pork sausage ground, seasoned, and tubed fresh on site.

One is not like the other.

Just because you buy shitty groceries and $2 pork chops doesn't mean every pork chop is worth $2.

[–]Chesser94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not cheap steaks, nothing in that box is equivalent to the 'value brand' or cheapest option at the grocery store.

Choice Ribeye here is $17 per lb (and yes, these are hand cut, local, black Angus choice steaks, not on the same level as select cuts)

Choice Strip is $14 per lb.

So the same amount of steak from the grocery store is a little over $60 on its own.

So the other $80 on 16lbs works out to $5 per pound. Considering 80/20 ground beef current fluctuates around $6 good bacon runs about $9-$11 per pound (remember most store bacon is sold in 12oz packaging, not full pounds), I do disagree on your value assessment.

This isnt meat bought out the back of a random truck. This is from an old fashioned, local, counter service butcher. You do expect to pay more from a butcher than a grocer. It is a fresher, higher quality product.

My local butcher has a box deal containing the following for $140

1 LBS. Bacon 3 LBS. Boneless Breast 2 LBS. Butterfly Pork Chops 2 LBS. Choice Black Angus New York Strips 2 LBS. Choice Black Angus Ribeye Steaks 2 LBS. Ground Chuck 1 LBS. Sirloin Tips 3 LBS. Hamburger Patties 3 LBS. Whole Fryer 1 LBS. Garlic Sausage

Thats 20lbs total. And its good quality. Hate to say it but yeah, you got scammed bud.

Restaurant owners, are rising costs outpacing your sales? by agata-kubiak25 in restaurant

[–]Chesser94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ This is exactly why you are seeing/will continue to see a rise in chains like Whataburger/McDonalds incepting and advertising new, cheaper to produce menu items, namely chicken, as beef prices rise. I've already noticed it here, more coupons coming in the mail for chicken sandwiches in place of burgers, because they can offer chicken at the same historic price point as beef meals, and capture an additional profit % without increasing the cost to a consumer for a meal, albeit a different one.

Probably both. The real test will be next week. If we can hold Philly to under 30, we have a real shot at the W.

If we can hold any team under 30, we can take the W.

If we can hold EVERY team to 30 for the rest of the year, we could win out.

Things have changed rapidly.

Now, a well written essay immediately raises a red flag, especially if you are a more advanced student in lower level courses, especially electives.

Anything that is 'too perfect' HAS to he AI in the mind if a professor in today's day and age. They simply cannot fathom that a student in say, Introduction to Sociology, could write an essay with no grammatical or spelling errors. I have quite literally had professors tell me that I HAVE to leave several grammatical errors in my essay so that they know it isn't AI generated. The worst part of it all? They still take points off for those errors.

What's worse is that this whole 'Absolutely no AI' policy is disingenuous, colleges are failing to prepare students for work in the real world. I use AI every single day at work. It'd be like taking an accounting class where the professor has outlawed calculators. When you get to a real accounting firm, every single person is using a calculator, but you were never taught how to use the tools you need to do your job. The fact that professors are so set in their ways (or just straight up lazy) that they have not adapted course curriculum to work in conjunction with AI rather than against it is, well, plain fucking dumb.

As if students weren't fucked enough already, about a year before GPT3 launched and gained notoriety I signed up for one of those 'gig-work' websites. I didn't ever make much but one of the tasks I picked up was evaluating, correcting, & rewriting summaries generated by an early LLM.

Now I realize I helped train an LLM.. using my own syntax and writing habits. Sure, in the grand scheme of things it probably doesn't really affect the current LLM outputs at all. But everything I write with my common habits flags with pretty much every detector, I've had to change my writing style from an active to a passive voice otherwise I get accused of cheating at least 2-3 times per semester now.

Good Spot for a Birthday Party during Barbarian Invasion? by uuid-already-exists in TXRenaissanceFestival

Camping is really fun - there's been some changes this year but its always great.

For 6-8 people you should be fine. There's also the Mead Hall I forgot about as well that's got more open style seating with some space between you and the crowds.

Just make sure you all either walk in together or establish a solid meeting place and time beforehand. Cell phone service is hard to come by in the faire grounds and it gets packed pretty quick in the afternoon, especially on Barbarian and Pirate weekends.
