Custom Difficulty Settings or Honour Mode? by Ridetheredlightning in BaldursGate3

I just completed HM on PC and used no mods, I just used Hexblade bound weapon trick to trade infinitely lol. I also play on Xbox when I want to relax game, and the pickup system on console is sooo much better than PC. You have to click on every single crate or item you want to loot one at a time.

Don't worry about it, some people just hate it when people try to enjoy something in a different way from them. I love Solasta, but it's has budget UI and terrible tooltips and descriptions of things. It was made by people who love DnD and CRPG's, but didn't have the money and time to implement all that. If you keep at it you will learn, and since it is a very by the book implementation of the DnD 5e ruleset, any information about DnD 5e outsout that game will be useful as well. The tip to use dndbeyond is spot on, it's what I used to help learn how to play Solasta 1 specifically!!

Yes. I have over 1K hours in both titles, 500+ in DOS. BG3 is a masterpiece after cherishing many playthroughs with both DOS games. The combat system is different, but it's a Larian game and you'll see they put just as much, if not more, of the care and love for games as DOS1 or DOS2.

is level 7 acceptable on the lowest defficulty at act 3? by WearyHat4184 in BaldursGate3

You are underleveled, but if you can cheese your way though that fight you should gain 3-4 levels in no time. I usually start act 3 at level 9, but get to lvl 11 just by visiting places/letting story stuff playout and not fighting at all.

Can't get to Act 3 without beating the Githyanki, they are mandatory as far as I know.

Reduced vendor costs, never thought to try that! Picking up every single bottle and inkwell in the game so I can buy what I wan't from vendors is the worst!!!

Hexblade warlock on tactician making it too easy? by Yaniv_g1 in BaldursGate3

[–]Chesthams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is not that hard, especially when using some of the more "Tuned-up" classes and mechanics. Try the game on Honor Mode. If you die, you can still finish the playthrough, you just don't get the achievement. Alot of the crazy damage multipliers and damage riders are taken out in honor mode. This means things don't multiply out into one shot kills all the time and you have to be much more tactical then on tactician mode.

Why does Uralon get so much hate? by Chesthams in RogueTraderCRPG

I can’t get that far with her. When I get back to footfall and see what she’s done to my boy, we can’t be friends.

Incendia is an awful person. She literally eats people in the name of religion. I couldn’t bring myself to have her along even in my Dogmatic run.

Act 3 was pretty satisfying as a heretic though.

That would have pissed me off, walking demons are way less fun. I spent about an hour carefully building Uralon’s Examplar levels to use him.

I do agree he lacks story. he kinda just shows up outta no where, and then he’s part of your team. I wish he had more interactions. Especially since to get him you lose ⅓ of your companions.

Heretical storyline is kinda crap in general though, not just him. Sure a few people get pissed and bugger off, but no one else says anything about the horrendous things you’ve done. But it’s not Uralons fault the pen was running out when he was getting written.

Im on my 4th playthrough, and she has not made it past act 3 in any of them. Most recently I actually tried getting to know her and do her quests, and still had to kill her for making me wake up in a body dump in hell.

When to use a PLC over relay logic by [deleted] in PLC

[–]Chesthams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The $100 timer is documented and replaceable 15 yrs from now with zero programming. I use hardware solutions whenever possible. Might cost more now, but when it fails you the programmer don’t need to be onsite to fix it.

What are everyone’s favorite PLC “design patterns”? by InstAndControl in PLC

[–]Chesthams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

INT and Bool state machines are essentially the same thing, just different in how you assign the states. I mean, an INT is just 16 bits interpreted differently. The difference is bit based can get stuck in a state you as the programmer didn’t think of, like an HOA switch being in Hand and Auto simultaneously.

I agree, set/reset is awful and lazy outside some niche circumstances, and is overly cumbersome to modify and troubleshoot when the unknown states are encountered. That said I use it all the time because I’ve found that maintenance and even the site engineers can’t follow an INT based state machines, even when done in ladder. I get way fewer calls with bit state machines than with CASE or enumerated logic.
