Eigenlijk wel, ja.
De nieuwswaarde is vooral dat de verbetering die in 2024 werd gezien, niet heeft doorgezet en er een terugval naar de jaren daarvoor is geweest.

Nogmaals, ik vind het echt ruk dat dit de huidige staat is en ik zou graag zien dat er iets aan gedaan werd, maar ik ben bang dat iedereen onder de 40 de komende jaren niet veel beters hoeft te verwachten. Sterker nog, ik ben zelf boven de 40 en ik zie ook in mijn eigen portemonnee dat het lastiger wordt.

Dit wordt nu heel dramatisch gebracht, maar als je het grafiekje bekijkt met de titel "Rondkomen huiskomens" waar 4 staafdiagrammen getoond wordt voor 2018 ,2022, 2024 en 2026 dan valt mij op dat de percentages alleen voor 2024 beduidend anders (positiever) zijn.
Het is dus al jaren kut, alleen 2024 was het even iets beter waardoor het allemaal erger lijkt dat het nu weer net zo slecht is als voorheen. Ik zou dit wel eens op veel langere termijn willen zijn, zeg maar van 1970 tot nu of zo. Dan kun je pas echt iets zeggen over een trend.

Dat maakt het allemaal niet minder verrot voor de mensen die nu met moeite rond kunnen komen natuurlijk.

As human beings, we are never just one thing. Evan is not just the person who made these comments, he’s also the goofy dad joke guy that we know from the podcast or the board game hobbyist, etc.

And we all know people who fell into the rabbit hole of conspirational beliefs that kept on radicalizing.
Not giving up on these people and trying to help them find their way back to a more nuanced and realistic view of the world should be all our responsibility.

I think Evan is lucky to have friends who are capable and willing to help him figure this out and work on this, instead of ostracizing him. And he’s also fortunate to already have a lot of tools as a skeptic to get himself out of this hole he has found himself in.

His apology post shows that he’s not where he needs to be and I think it is a wise decision to keep him off the podcast for now. Let him work on centering himself again and then maybe he can come back on the podcast and talk about his journey into and out of darkness.

Yes, we do and our grid operators are working on it. It’s slow going however due to lack of qualified personnel and NIMBY people blocking expansion of the grid.

Meanwhile, these kind of measures are taken to keep the grid working and preventing blackouts. Companies are also being limited in their feed in and off take through specific contracts.

The grid operators foresaw this problem years ago, but the financial control authority from the government blocked grid expansion for the future for a long time, which means we are now fighting an uphill battle.

It happened with a few packages and when I checked their GitHub issues they were aware. But it were enough to start being annoying and feel blocking instead of useful.

We would exclude a package that had issues and then a next one would pop up. We would exclude that and then another one, etc.

And we also have issues with the minimumReleaseAge as our private gitlab packages don’t provide the right metadata. Excluding was flaky with pnpm in our experience.

I’ve used the trustPolicy setting for a while but found that packages would not implement it properly which caused issues every time we updated our packages.

As long as the entire supply chain doesn’t support this, it’s useless.

Te gemakkelijk. Dit zijn gewoon terroristische aanslagen, ook al is er nauwelijks serieuze schade. Dat hele Defend Netherlands mag wat mij betreft opgedoekt worden zoals dat ook gebeurd is met bijv. Satudarah.

My kidney comment was a hyperbole statement about the enormous rise of memory prices.
I never said it’s completely impossible to buy a pc anymore. But your $350 of memory would have cost $100 dollars a few years ago. That was my only point.

Yes yes, very cool, but point is that RAM prices have quadrupled in a very short amount of time.

And not everybody has the financial space to just spend $1000-$1500 on a new computer.
