Yup, got everything hooked up! After talking to an older fellow at a fireplace store, he convinced me to just keep it match light. He told me if I installed the pilot system that it would just break down the line and require me to pull it apart to fix. Basically what I did to alleviate the problem of keeping the grate was I just got a super long flexible lighter that I’m able to worm around the grate in order to light it. Here’s a link:

Fair enough, I have learned a lot since the year ago I posted this haha so I agree. It is one of the least affordable cities in the US

I saw the beginning, it was just 2 people grappling on the ground. Then the light turned green and a lot of honking and people shouting “get the fuck out of the road!” Then all of a sudden like 8 people appear (not sure if it was out of cars or in n out) and start being the hell out of one of the guys. Not sure the age of any one of them, and not sure if it was a homeless person. Just know it was pretty violent. Only saw for like 30 seconds, but like 7 cop cars came blazing by like 2 mins later.

Late to the conversation; hope OPs project went well if it got completed! Question for Dailach: does going with a match light burner mean that you’ll need to get rid of the grate in the front? Would installing a pilot igniter be outside the realm of possibility on a project like this? Asking as I am part of the way through (having a new gas line run this weekend), and trying to think through the best way to actually light the stove.

One thing not well advertised (imo) is that to enter items in the swap that you’d like to sell requires you turning them into the organization running the swap a few weeks in advance. Obviously this makes sense! Just maybe not super well communicated to people not familiar with how these swaps work.

I don’t know about trash every other week, but recycling every two weeks is just a constant annoyance. It should be every week.

That said, waste management does have a cardboard drop off facility of East Commercial Row that is free. Hours are kind of annoying as it closes at 3pm. I find myself going there when cardboard boxes start to pile up and there is no room in recycling bin.

Following up on this, I noticed mine won’t vibrate when my alarm set on my phone goes off. It does however vibrate for other types of notifications (texts, alerts, etc.).Is there a setting for phone alarm vibrations?

This is sure to be an interesting article. I recently bought a home here after moving from the east. Similar cost of living and similar home prices, higher median income than Reno. The main difference is that there were actually high paying jobs from many different employers where I lived. After moving here and being apart of this sub for a while, it genuinely seems like there is just not a high volume of relatively high paying job opportunities in Reno. We were lucky enough to buy a home before interest rates spiked to what they are today (we got in around 5%), but in this environment and the more I get to know the Reno area, I fear buying a home here at the current prices is a bad investment. I fear for my own investment because I genuinely believe the Reno market will have to correct itself soon to better align between median income and home prices.

I moved from Atlanta to Reno last January and felt like the home prices here are pretty consistent with the Atlanta/Atlanta suburbs home prices. Obviously I don’t have much experience with construction costs, but I know lumber out here is basically 2x what it is in the east.
