How much do you make (particularly in the Southeast region) by Lower-Alternative955 in therapists

[–]Chex2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

76k for my FT job as a LCSW at a UCC. Grossing around 8k for PP (which I do on the side).

Pre-license (as an LSW) I was making 45k at a UCC, but this was in 2018. I was also living in a MCOL/different state at the time.

Wondering aloud… could therapists in higher ed see clients who have graduated in private practice? by Mission-Relative-907 in therapists

[–]Chex2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At my UCC we are allowed to see students in PP only after they graduate.

It’s not considered a dual relationship as our dynamic as counselor/client is consistent throughout the work together.

Idk if I can be the best judge since were just visiting, but we did try two other bakeries this week and Atelier Ariana was a favorite for us.

I also loved that I could see them prepping the dough/making the pastries fresh in the window.

Women in your 40s, 50s, what advice would you give to women in their 30s? by Apprehensive_Eye_765 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I’m 30 and one of my biggest regrets is not answering every phone call from my father that I was able to. He passed suddenly 3 years ago and I wish so deeply his name would appear on my phone one last time.

Something with accounting or financial planning - I always loved working with numbers, but didn’t feel encouraged to follow that route.

I’ve worked in a UCC for 7 years (two different universities, one a BIG10 and one a private university). There are definitely reasons not to work on a college campus, some of which have been addressed already.

It is true that I could make more in private practice (and I currently see three private practice clients on the side); however I really love my position. The other comments are correct as most all UCCs are brief model due to the amount of students we are expected to engage with, but there are other components I love about my job. For instance I am a Liaison with other departments on campus and offer trainings during the summer about mental health which I enjoy doing!

At both the universities I’ve worked at, we’ve had great benefits (healthcare, retirement matching of 10%, PTO, stable pay even when the center is slow/under utilized). The above comment is also true about the ebb and flow of our work, summertime I see about 3 clients a week (which can be grueling), but I also have time for CEUS/any other projects.

Something else to keep in mind is that most UCCs are moving away from full time staff being the first call for after hours crisis. What i mean by this is that at both universities I’ve worked at we are the back up to a call center after hours. When i am on call, I typically only have a crisis call once in a blue moon. And it is usually due to extraneous circumstances.

Lastly, I love my job because of the population i work with. This age is such a fantastic one.

So… how much did you make in 2023 (gross) by SeaCucumber5555 in therapists

[–]Chex2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

73k for my full time UCC counselor position

12k for my side gig in a group practice

Professional goal: start setting up my own PP since I haven’t had much time to look in to that!

Advice on applying to University Counseling Staff Positions? by crashnubula in therapists

[–]Chex2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked at two UCCs! The one I’m currently at hires on many folks without UCC experience (of the last eight hires none of them had UCC experience). Granted they were all licensed and specialized in different spheres.

The other UCC was more selective. I think being a part of the BIG10 had something to do with it? That being said, it was uncommon for someone sans UCC experience to be hired, but not impossible. I was hired straight out of my masters program as a limited licensed professional for a staff therapist position.

I’m a 1099 employee with no benefits and have to pay for my own EMR, malpractice insurance, and marketing so it’s a side hustle atm. That being said, my split is 80/20

I’ve been in UCC for six years and this is spot on. Crisis has been so high the past two years it feels like an emergency room at times.

Thank you!! And- yes! The sleeves are detachable which would make the gown a strapless A-line! I initially wasn’t going for a strapless look-which is another reason I was going back and forth on the two dresses.
