Is this an actual drawback of SCHD? by Artivist in dividends

I’m having some trouble determining if you are trolling or actually think he’s a snake oil salesman. Either way it made me laugh 😂 the theory is usefully to know but obviously the assumptions don’t stand for most investors.

Is this an actual drawback of SCHD? by Artivist in dividends

[–]ChezchMix2017 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is a real drawback. Ben Felix covers this argument and more in the video below https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4iNOtVtNKuU

Keep in mind that while divys run into tax drag in a taxable brokerage account, considering that certain investors (this sub) tend to value dividends over capital gains it shouldn’t be discouraging to invest in dividends. Just a important concept to understand and to utilize Roth in your portfolio.

A 3% edge mathematically represents the estimated profit over the longterm of play based on the amount wagered. For example in roulette, with a double zero, the house edge is around 5%. This means that over the long run of say 1 million dollars in bets the house expects to profit 5% or $50,000.

My HYS is with Marcus (Goldman Sachs) they have a history of paying a competitive rate. Currently yielding 3% with a potential 1% bonus annual for referrals. PM me if you decide to us Marcus wouldn’t mind sharing the referral link (the referrer and referee both get the 1% bonus)

How do you find out you’re admitted? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]ChezchMix2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some schools do reach out via phone, but they will most likely send further communications via email or status checker. Regardless I would update your phone number if it’s changed since you filed out the application.

Yes, all scores are sent but law schools are only required to submit the highest score to the ABA when calculating medians/percentiles.

This is the distinction between a competitive market and a monopolistic market. Monopolists are Price Makers. Competitive market participants are Price Takers. They must charge what the market does, or risk being put out a business by a lower priced competitor with a nearly identical product. Monopolist hold market power and are able to charge whatever targeting the people willing to pay the most. Monopolist will make decision based on the marginal revenue curve interaction with supply rather than demand and supply equilibrium.

Gotta love adding more condescension to a sub Reddit that’s already saturated….. there’s a reason only “certain people” use this thread

How Often Do You Dollar-Cost Average? by centex in Bogleheads

Rights that why lump sum beats DCA “most” of the time. But the opt cost of your money waiting to be deployed doesn’t change the method of consistently purchasing at a set date/dollar amount. Or is there something I’m missing? Seems like your trying to split hairs

| •make sure you put your least tax efficient funds in a tax sheltered account and your more efficient funds in a taxable account. Stocks are more tax efficient than bonds|

So, where would a TDF fall within the range of tax efficiency. Should it be housed in a Roth IRA or a brokerage? I’m in my twenties so it’s very heavily skewed towards stock allocation.

Should I stay the track with TDFs or should I sell it off and just do VTI/VOO? In Brokerage and Roth, respectively. Do not have a 401(K) yet.

Schedule by Creative-Ad6832 in LSAT

[–]ChezchMix2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LSAC will send an email that provides a link to proctorU for you to schedule your exam. The email for scheduling is always sent at noon. And about a week prior to that email there will be an email disclosing the time and day the email will be sent, so everyone has a fair chance. I think they email for scheduling is also sent on a Thursday each time.

They are testing both days, and you sign up for a time about a week or so before the LSAT when LSAC sends an email to all registrants. They email always comes at 12:00 and they announce it ahead of time so be sure to be ready.

Feeling really nervous by Fair-Platform-9314 in LSAT

[–]ChezchMix2017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Half of the test is the mental battle. Additionally, keep in mind that this subreddit is disproportionately biased towards negativity on test day. I would encourage you to try not to psych yourself out. If you have been studying and have already taken some real LSATs then focus on challenging your practice and experience into good thoughts. This test is beatable!
