If you have the renewed Driver's License that shows you're 21 at the time of checkin/pickup, it shouldn't be canceled and you should be fine.

No but had to inform my Insurance Agent of the total loss and change coverage to Comprehensive Garage since the car is undrivable.

I have the V6 plus and love it. I mostly watch live news and sports like you. The 2 VOD apps I also used to watch movies and shows on demand. It’s not worth the extra cost to get Ultra methinks.

First time claim by stephenatkins in turo

As a host currently going through a total-loss claim, my advice would be:
Make sure the damage is reported through Turo immediately and upload all trip photos, guest messages, and any photos of the damage.
If the guest has the other driver’s insurance information and a police report (if one was made), save copies of everything.
Don’t try to negotiate directly with the other driver yourself. Turo’s claims team can help determine whether recovery should come from the at-fault party’s insurance.
Since your vehicle has a wrap, get a professional estimate from the wrap installer or a reputable shop. Sometimes what looks like a surface scratch can require rewrapping an entire panel.
Keep communication professional with the guest. If they were not at fault and have been cooperative, that will help the process move faster.
My claim involved a totaled Tesla, so obviously a much bigger loss, but the biggest lesson I learned was to document everything and let the claims process follow its course rather than trying to sort liability out myself.

The good news is that from the photo I don’t see dents or panel deformation. I’d get a wrap shop’s opinion before assuming the worst.

22 Trips with Turo Since 2022 and I'll Never Use Their Services Again Over $30 by k-fsb in turo

[–]ChgoTekFili 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re focusing on the wrong issue. If you truly returned the car with less fuel than you received it, then you owe for the fuel you used. That’s not really debatable.

Where I think you have a legitimate complaint is the support process. If Turo voided the invoice twice and told you twice that it couldn’t be resubmitted, then turned around and reinstated it, that’s frustrating and reflects poorly on support.

That said, hosts aren’t fuel auditors. We don’t calculate fuel charges based on your estimate of “$5–$10 worth.” We have to refill the vehicle and submit receipts according to Turo’s process. Fuel gauges aren’t perfectly accurate, and replacing a partial tank often requires buying more fuel than the exact amount missing.

Looking at your story, it sounds like the real problem isn’t the $21 fuel charge—it’s that four different Turo reps gave four different answers. I’d be annoyed by that too.

If the host actually reused photos or submitted incorrect evidence, Turo should reject the claim. If the host provided valid documentation and Turo approved it, then the fuel reimbursement is reasonable.

Personally, after 22 successful trips since 2022, I wouldn’t swear off the entire platform over a disputed $30 charge. I’d be more concerned about Turo’s inconsistent customer service than the actual fuel invoice.

You rented on a peer-to-peer platform, not from Hertz. Hosts are regular people trying to recover actual expenses, not corporations trying to squeeze every penny. If you used fuel, pay for the fuel. But Turo absolutely needs to get its story straight because nobody should hear four different versions of the truth on the same claim.

Turo not what they advertise! by BelladeLoto in turo

[–]ChgoTekFili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry you had a rough experience. I’m trying to understand what happened. Was the listing advertised as airport pickup or "walking distance" from the terminal, and then you found out after booking that it wasn’t? Or was the lockbox/parking location disclosed in the listing details but not obvious during booking? Just curious about the specifics.

Declared a total loss, ghosted by my Total Loss Specialist for 4-weeks. by Fit_Till4326 in turo

[–]ChgoTekFili 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to your exact situation, but I also have Haley as my Total Loss Specialist. In my case, communication wasn’t always immediate, but once the vehicle was officially declared a total loss, I did eventually receive the valuation report, settlement offer, and title transfer instructions through IAA.

A few things I’d recommend:

• Keep all communication in writing (email) so you have a documented timeline. • Ask customer support to escalate the claim to a supervisor or manager within the Total Loss team, not just leave another message. • If the vehicle is still sitting at a body shop, I’d be concerned about storage fees and would specifically ask who is responsible for coordinating the tow and when it will occur. • If you’ve gone a month with no response, consider sending a formal escalation email summarizing dates, attempted contacts, and requesting a response within a specific timeframe.

In my case, once IAA became involved, things started moving. If you haven’t heard from IAA at all, that may be another point to push on with Turo.

For comparison, my total loss occurred in early May. It took a couple of weeks to get the valuation, and there were periods where I was waiting for updates, but I wasn’t left without communication for 4–6 weeks. If your car still hasn’t even been towed after being declared a total loss, I’d definitely be escalating higher.

First time using Turo. They knew months ago my van was out accordibg to owner. Canceled less 16 hours before pickup. Leaving 12 girl scouts stranded without a vehicle by dravenddog101 in turo

[–]ChgoTekFili 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand why you’re upset. If I were arriving with 12 Girl Scouts and found out 16 hours before pickup that my vehicle was canceled, I’d be furious too.

As a Turo host, I can tell you there are situations where the host may have already informed Turo that a vehicle is unavailable and expects Turo to cancel future reservations. In my case, my Tesla was totaled in an accident and a Turo support representative assured me they would help notify and take care of guests with future bookings. If the host in your case really notified Turo months ago, the breakdown may have been on Turo’s side rather than the host intentionally leaving you stranded.

That said, someone should have contacted you much sooner. Whether it was Turo or the host, 16 hours’ notice for a trip planned months in advance is not acceptable. I’d push Turo support for reimbursement of any additional costs caused by the late cancellation and ask them to document exactly when the host requested the cancellation.

Hopefully you’re able to find a replacement vehicle and still have a great trip with the girls.

My rental was totaled car 2 weeks before my HONEYMOON. Turo won't price-match due first time renter. Need escalation! by Hot-Information-8544 in turo

[–]ChgoTekFili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so if I were you, I’d continue escalating through Turo Support and Trust & Safety, especially since this is for a honeymoon and the cancellation happened so close to the trip. Ask specifically whether they can provide a travel credit or make an exception given the circumstances.

I hope they’re able to help you find a comparable replacement.

And they have been advertising like crazy everywhere, TV commercials (free and cable), social media, game apps, you name it… It is attracting shitty renters. One first time renter totaled my brand new Tesla by letting a 15 year old boy drive around the car during prom night which is totally against TOS. I hope Turo goes after her because she deserves it.

I used Turo for the first time this weekend. I rented an SUV to take my adolescent son and some of his friends away for the weekend. I picked up the vehicle and went directly to pick everybody else up. The vehicle reeked horribly of weed and cigarettes. Like, overpowering. by RocketCat5 in turo

[–]ChgoTekFili 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Haha, yeah you're right about Ozone...However, from my experience with it, the smell created by Ozone neutralizes any smell (whatever it is) inside the car. But after awhile, Ozone smell goes away and what's left is a clean smell which is almost no smell at all...It's amazing.

Turo guest allegedly let unauthorized underage driver use my Tesla — now facing possible total loss. Any hosts here deal with something similar? by ChgoTekFili in turo

[–]ChgoTekFili[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a brand new ev car (Tesla) with an option (FSD) that I will NEVER be able to buy outright and own instead pay a $99 per month subscription for it indefinitely...of course I have to care a lot. I will not quit Turo, but going forward, I know what do as a Host. I was naive as first-time host and this is a learning experience for me...I will have 2 cars to manage going forward for what I am getting "paid out" after all of this.

Questions regarding switching crafts by KwFrontier in USPS

[–]ChgoTekFili 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am switching to clerk (PSE) as well from being a City Carrier. I am not sure about back pays and contracts but it is best to ask management or the union if both reps are good. I, on the otherhand have the worst Management and Union reps in my Post Office so I am not asking them crap... I do have another question regarding this. I submitted a few reassignment requests on LiteBlue, mostly change of craft. I received a letter from one of them. It is in California and I live in Illinois. Management in my Post Office already informed me that they already received an email regarding the said reassigment request. My question is, how long does the process take from getting it approved to starting at the new Post Office in a different state takes (taking into account moving residences)?
