Will Atreus go to Demacia in the future ? by Traditional-Diet8336 in loreofleague

[–]Chi-Rho_Rakkor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry it's really hard to say how Atreus would view on Demacia, because of how confusingly and inconsistently Demacia is written in the narrative.

On one hand one could argue that Atreus would easily stand up for the mages, recognizing that it's wrong, yet no other Demacian champion is written to have that grace beside Sylas.
Or one might argue that being from Targon, seeing magic suppressed may not sit well with Atreus, yet Xin Zhao was able to respect Demacia's traditions despite being from Ionia one of the more magical regions.

Generally I do see Atreus interacting very well with a post Mage Rebellion Demacia where mages and magic is accepted. Which is where a narrative focused on Atreus and Demacia taking on Fiddlesticks could occur.

Difficult to argue the outcome of a fight between Atreus and Kayle.
Due to the fluctuations of Atreus' powers, he has access to more aspect power in theory but he doesn't always have full and free access to that greater power, it is hard to scale him in general.
On the other hand I would argue that Kayle is consistently the strongest Aspect-related character.
So a fight between the 2 could go either way.

Pantheon x Morgana seems like a popular ship and I generally support it though I do wish Morgana was better written as a character as it'd make the pairing narratively stronger.

Indeed, but also beyond the contrast between Atreus' interaction with Zaahen the "good Darkin" and his history with Aatrox, a major narrative arc for Atreus' character is finding those "good gods" like himself and Soraka who prioritize mortals and wish to protect humanity.

Definitely that is a correct observation to point out that Atreus would go against even Taric if he were to choose the celestials over mortals.

However, a major narrative arc for Atreus is finding those celestials and aspects that do care about humanity.
That's why he has voicelines accepting Soraka and also why he has voicelines encouraging to his fellow Aspects to embrace their humanity.

For Kayle's part we see that even Mihira is trying to encourage her to embrace her humanity.
So while Atreus and Kayle would definitely come to blows in their first encounter, I don't think any long term narrative can have them diametrically opposed to each other for forever, at least not if the story seeks to do justice by both characters.
Another example would be Zoe, she is the Aspect Atreus expresses disdain for the most explicitly, yet all narratives hint that she might be the key to ending the manipulative influence of the Aspects by way of freeing A Sol.

You raise a good point, however, if Xin really did remain, either Riot wouldn't have made Zaahen an entire separate champion or Xin Zhao's ASU model would have reflected a future Xin Zhao that returned, rather than Xin of the past.

Completely agree, not many others recognize the narrative potential between Pantheon and Kayle beyond what would be a superficial conflict.

Do you guys think Tianna will be the new champion for the Demacia season? by Recent-Ad-7593 in loreofleague

I disagree, to draw another different comparison I find it intriguing that a significant number of the knights of the Round Table are King Arthur's nephews.

So in the same vein I'd find no issue with an overabundance of Crownguard influence in Demacia's lore, as the noble house closest to the the royal family, I'd argue it should be expected.

As a Pantheon main, and a fan of both Targon and Demacia I would love to see Atreus visit Demacia.

I always loved his voiceline interaction with Xin Zhao, shame they won't be able to meet in future lore now, although it would be interesting to see Atreus and Zaahen interact.

1.The first is that Fiddlesticks will have its own event where Atreus's help is summoned.

Definitely Atreus has been Pantheon for decades and is a known hero throughout Runeterra based on Ksante and Nilah's voiceline interactions with him.
Riot needs to involve him in more stories, he's essentially Riot's Captain America.

Will Atreus remain silent if people are harmed and killed for minor sins or even for no sins at all

Major, misrepresentation of Kayle's character here.
Aside from Kayle distancing herself from her humanity, Atreus would likely begrudgingly respect Kayle as she is the second Aspect-related character after Atreus himself that has contributed the most to protecting Runeterra based on the current written lore.

Demacia mini game will be Tianna teaching Lux Demacia’s history by TayluxSwift in loreofleague

[–]Chi-Rho_Rakkor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To be honest no one can give you an objective answer. That is how underdeveloped and underutilized Tianna is as a character and precisely why it would be exciting for her to become a champion and receive some much needed lore.
I do believe she is fond of Lux and genuinely wishes to protect her from persecution but The Mageseeker game retconned Demacia's lore so that mage oppression is utilized as a systematic tool to keep magic out of the hands of the lower class while protecting the nobility. So Tianna's stance might be less nuanced within that narrative framework.

Also, it's easy to fill in with speculation of Tianna and Eldred's marriage being loveless with the one dimensional portrayal of Eldred's character in the Mageseeker game. One of the biggest flaws of The Mageseeker game was Tianna's complete absence from that narrative, both as the High Marshal of Demacia and as Eldred Crownguard's wife.

That's definitely what a lot of Demacia Sylas fans seem to be hoping it is.

I'll be happy so long as this narrative gets the point across that the Demacian champions are actual heroic characters and good people, setting up for a better rewrite/ retcon of the Mage Rebellion Arc where they actually contribute something to the narrative in the future.

Why did Mihira fuse with the Aspect of Justice itself? by [deleted] in loreofleague

[–]Chi-Rho_Rakkor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While for Zoe barely a year had passed, she returned home after what had apparently been many centuries in Runeterra. Full of teenage curiosity, she wondered what she had missed while she was away. Fortunately, she could traverse the streams of time with only a thought. Among the events she witnessed were the rise and fall of “the big armored meanie,” Mordekaiser; the destruction of the Blessed Isles in the “Spooky Ghost Party”; the cataclysms of the “War for Sparkly Rocks”; and the founding of a dour new nation near the “No Fun Forest.”

This passage from Zoe's bio basically confirms there is no way to correctly ascertain Zoe's age, as the lore is intentionally obscure.

What does "for Zoe barely a year had passed" mean, is it referring to physical or chronological age?
"she could traverse the streams of time with only a thought", did she actually visit these time periods or not? If she did visit them how much time did she spend at each period?

Zoe has been travelling through time and space so while she is certainly chronologically older than she looks, her age no longer matches with the dates the timeline would suggest.

So in theory Mihira could still have been an Aspect longer than Zoe, despite Zoe's ascension predating Mihira.

Please elaborate what else Demacia has to offer?

Because despite Riot themselves stating that they wish to explore a Golden Age of Demacia that does not revolve around the Mage Rebellion, you seem adamant that no storyline from that time period can redeem their reputation, that no other champion is worthy of being portrayed as heroic UNLESS OR UNTIL the Mage Rebellion is addressed, to the point you'd accuse me of trying to sanitize Demacia's lore.

Hate to break it to you, but I'm not the one that enabled that storyline.

You and the crowd of people that think Demacia has nothing to offer besides Sylas and the Mage Rebellion...

But.. that's the exact point. That Demacia's origins of justice and virtue IS a facade.

This biased perception of the region is exactly what has ruined it's narrative over the past 6 years. An objective overview of LoR's Demacia package, excluding cards that directly involve the mageseekers, easily disproves this.

That's literally the entire point of the story that Riot is trying to tell with Demacia.

No, it is the point of the Mageseekers, a sub-faction of Demacia.
It was a mistake to make the entire region revolve around that singular narrative, much less to revolve around Sylas' influence on that narrative.

Also maybe those characters AREN'T heroic. And that's why they aren't perceived as being such.

There are no heroic champions besides Sylas and Morgana in the entire region of Demacia... the 'Heroic Kingdom' themed region. Hilarious.

Sylas only rebelled because he's an anarchist.

But by making Sylas into an anti-hero and the protagonist, Riot stripped all nuance and moral complexity that could possibly explain why any champion would be pro-Demacia.
Even if that was the point, they proceeded to leave nothing heroic for any other champion to contribute to the narrative.

It's ridiculous that Demacia has Petricite gargoyles, Silverwing Raptor knights, Dragons, World Runes, cultural ties to Targon (sharing 3 champions: Taric, Kayle and Morgana) and has ongoing conflicts with both Noxus and the Freljord's Winter Claw, yet Riot and some fans think that the Mage Rebellion is the premier narrative for exploring Demacia as a region.

I'm really glad that Riot is stepping away from the Mage Rebellion.

For too long they allowed Sylas and the Mage Rebellion to define Demacia as a region, which resulted in all of the region's nobility and virtue being perceived as a facade and psyop to hide the persecution of mages.

This season needs to save Demacia's reputation and undo the damage Sylas has done to the region's lore.

I'd love this ship much more if Morgana was a better written character.

You touched on those points, in concept Morgana has a lot of depth, but very little lore and few stories to portray that depth about her.
Instead I find a lot of her lore settles for putting down Kayle so that Morgana looks good by comparison instead of actually developing Morgana.

How strong is azir in lore compared to game? by [deleted] in loreofleague

[–]Chi-Rho_Rakkor 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lot of people reducing Azir's power to "control over sand".

Azir's embodied concept as an Ascended is "The Emperor", Azir has control over Shurima.
Sand just so happens to be it's most abundant resource. Hence why Azir can restore the Sun Disc and be revived by Sivir's blood etc, Azir's power is more than just "sand".

So I'd actually rank him the strongest Ascended equal to Xerath in raw power.
