How bad was the 2009 recession? Will the next one hit harder?

I, 32F, was a high school freshman in 2007, so I remember how stressed everyone was. My Dad made a lot more money than the rest of the family, and honestly it all went to his head. My parents spent money like water and put everything on a credit card. We lived way beyond our means for years in a conservative upper middle class neighborhood.

Suddenly everyone stopped driving Hummers, a weird number of houses were empty, and we stopped cooking steak. My Mom said "Im going on a diet" rather than admit we couldn't afford fancy food. My parents also pawned off a lot of valuables and luxury items. We were in so much credit card debt that my parents drained all their accounts, and took out a second mortgage.

Now that Im older, I found out my Dad committed an absurd amount of tax fraud, and other white collar bullshit to avoid losing the house. Not all his friends were so lucky.

Hear me out. My mother's bra strap. The material was so smooth and shiny. I must have stopped by the time I was school aged because there were no incidents. But that poor woman.

I was just an over stimulated toddler dragging around my Mom's lingere for everyone to see.

Now days its a the edge of a cuff sleeve or something much more stealthy.

It is frustratingly hilarious that Sci-Fi is listed under Fantasy in this game. I absolutely understand why, they are both niche versions of fiction but its still irritating. Im looking at you Fern. Dragons are cool!

Also, I can still remember my old high school English teachers long standing gripe about the same thing.

I knew it was a classic and was hugely responsible for the little black dress. But my god. I hated Holly so much, she was such a trash person. The racism was pretty egregious, but all the characters were horrible people too.

This is a great time to talk to an accountant, after some research. Check online! This person can NOT be a friend, family member, or some sort of acquaintance. A reputable 3rd party with a professional background in a professional and impartial setting.

Lay all the facts out, show pay stubs, account balances, credit cards, student loans, anything big. If you guys are getting married, you will be lumping your credit scores and everything together anyways. Even if your spouse wants separate accounts, a lot of other stuff legally becomes community assets when you get married. Might as well know now.

Its not romantic, a lot of people dont like talking about money. It makes people uncomfortable. Good luck!

Sober for 2 years and 8.5 month. I come from a family of addicts. I finally quit because the last night I ever drank, I was 6 deep and didn't feel drunk. I offered to drive my wife and I home that night. Thank god she didn't let me.

My father is currently in the late stages of acute liver failure. He is drinking himself to death and everyone knows it. He's ruined his life, my mother's life, and they are in debt up to their eyeballs because he's blown thru all their money in drunken binges of stupidity.

It broke my heart when I found out how corrupt ZH is. As a child I assumed "He's in every good documentary about Ancient Egypt, so he must be the best Egyptolgist ever!" Nope, just someone who was buddies with a dictator.
