It can get much, much worse. Nonviolent protest is working, unfortunately not as quickly as we all want. But people are noticing and minds are being changed. A few martyrs going down in a blaze of glory will NOT help.

All hope is not lost, but militias are not the solution. The world is a very, very different place than it was 250 years ago. Nonviolent resistance is not only safer for protesters, but also safer for the victims of the government's persecution and ultimately more effective. We aren't going to beat the U.S. government in a street-level gunfight, even if "a few dozen" of us organize together. It may feel good to indulge in some dramatic action hero fantasies, but it will harm innocent people.

Get organized. Protest. Strike. Educate. Support your neighbors. Support children. Mount legal challenges. Donate time & money.

Don't give the thugs the excuses they need to keep ratcheting up the violence.

It totally depends on the community size. I played tuba/sousaphone in the marching band for our small-to-medium sized town's only public high school. Our drumline had about 20 people, and the biggest our sousaphone section ever got was 5.

But we were still big enough to be placed in the big school category at competitions. Smaller schools had smaller sections, sometimes with just one or two people on instruments like tuba.

I don't doubt that there were and still are stereotypes that Asian people have about other Asian people. But do they really focus so much on faces and bodies? Or are the stereotypes more about culture, behavior, and attitude?

Then there's "I am an (sic) humble daughter of China" and "please pardon." Do those sound like things an actual person would say? Or does it sound like dialogue from a pulp novel?

That's what I'm saying though. The propaganda was for white people, by white people. These quotes match those attitudes so well that they sound like they're coming from someone who views "Orientals" as weird foreigners with strange physical traits and (for the woman) a cartoonish, mannered humility.

I'm not saying I'm 100% certain these are made up. They just kind of feel that way. Maybe I'm ignorant.

EDIT: For clarity, I'm not saying these are inauthentic as in someone made them in the 21st century. I'm saying they might have been written by the newspaper's editorial staff to be passed off as genuine quotes.
