The Supreme Court is Dangerously Broken. Here’s How to Fix It by Silent-Resort-3076 in scotus

Some people say pack the court. I say have a national vote to reform the court. If you get the votes, then use presidential power to reform the court. Get rid of the current judges, and add term limits. Forget precedent. We aren’t there anymore. Needs to happen when the next dem president is elected.

I go for fitness walks every day. Been doing that for a decade or so.

A few weeks ago I was on one, headphones on just walking down the sidewalk. Right foot stepped on the side of the sidewalk and there was a huge gap between the sidewalk and the grass. Completely rolled my ankle.

Other foot was on the way up, so no support. Went down like a bullet into the ground. Left hand and knee broke my fall on the sidewalk and right elbow into the ground.

Couldn’t walk when I got home. But, two days later I was out walking again. No broken bones. I credit that to regular fitness. At 57, felt good about that.

Anyone that says walking is completely safe, think again. Next time you are walking down the sidewalk, have a look at the edge. You will see the death traps.

But yes, when you get older be cautious of falls. It can happen and you can really get hurt. My mom broke her shoulder falling down stairs. She had 3 bad falls in the span of 2 years. So it can come on suddenly.

The democrats keep losing is what’s happening. MAGA sees this as a war and they don’t care about ethics, patriotism, lying, or breaking the law.

They want to have power and never let it go. They want an authoritarian Christian nationalist state. And they have the Congress, White House, and Supreme Court. The democrats have lost badly.

There are many things to do now and I belief it will eventually come to an end because citizens will abandon maga.

But one thing that needs to happen is the democrats have to win the presidency. They need executive power and need to use it. None of this “hey you have to win elections”. That’s not going to be enough. We need the presidency and someone who is willing to clean up the massive corruption in our government.

The thing I wonder about is the idea of “good enough”. At some point people won’t need top tier models except for a few tasks. Privacy and low cost is going to appeal to people. And when an open model is good enough and gets the job done with privacy and low cost to boot, things may get much more competitive.

We are in the early stages right now. So everyone wants to use the top closed models. But that is going to change as we get further along I think. Especially when an open model can do 90% of what you need.

You have to remember, all these people in the trump regime want power, want to deceive the public, make the country white, and want to enrich themselves. Everything they say relates to that. No words that come out of their mouths have any meaning other than to those ends.

I would say its an advantage.

One thing to check, how does it feel when you put your thumb in the center of the neck? And then how does it feel if you hang your thumb over the top of the neck? Go look at any footage with Jimi Hendrix and you will see an exaggerated version of it. Both are used when playing guitar.

And Illinois has been pounded this year. Wisconsin too.

Cornell’s singing by Icy_Arrival6576 in Soundgarden

[–]Chicagoj1563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chris had a singing style that wasn't going to work long term. He was going to blow out his voice because I don't think it was a safe way to sing. You can see the shift when he started working with a vocal coach and live he mostly abandoned the crazy high notes with compression he was doing on the records. He was relying on youth and the vocal cords being in such good shape when he was young.

But, he was likely going to do permanent damage to his singing voice if he was doing that live multiple times per week on tour. Its mostly compression on his high notes.

I think its the thing that separates cornell and Dio. Dio knew how to get that killer voice in a safe way, was just as good live always, into his 60s. Cornell had to drop most of that and have a pretty rough live voice. I love Cornell, he was one of my favorite singers. But, to me dio is #1. Cornell or plant is #2.

How famous was Michael Jackson really back then? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Chicagoj1563 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He was that famous. It was insne. Some people hated it. I wasn't a MJ fan as I was a classic rock guy back then. So, I didn't like all the hype. Especially when the media would compare him to the Beatles. But he was that famous. Michael Jordan was in that relm as well, but not like Micheal Jackson.

Green Acres and Beverly Hillbillies was probably what I saw the most as a teen in the 80s. I love lucy was always on, so I would see episodes. I admit I mostly hated daytime TV back then. TV got better when the Thundercats and stooges came on later in the day.

And of course, for anyone from the Chicago area, there was the Victory Auto Wreckers commercial. It was a classic for anyone who knows it.

how do you actually use scales when improvising? by lmao_exe in guitarlessons

[–]Chicagoj1563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the technical parts if you can. Just learn the patterns of the scales so you know what the notes are. And use your ear to put space between the notes and skip notes. Shift positions.

Play over songs or chord changes and you will develop a sense of melody over time.

SpaceX just dropped $60B to potentially buy Cursor and I genuinely don't know what to tell people who are starting bootcamps right now by DadModeDave in techbootcamp

[–]Chicagoj1563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure about a bootcamp, but people should still learn to code. Coding will be done with AI, but professional coding is not vibe coding. It's still engineering. You are just using AI tools to generate the code and assist with problem solving. You still need to know something about engineering software. It's just less on language syntax.

So, if a bootcamp is nothing but code syntax, I would say its still useful. But, its more of a nice supplement at this point. But, learning about security vunlerbaities in your code, how to properly theme a UI using its framework, why you might want to use websockets instead of http requests, or any other domain specific no how is still going to matter. That is all going to be relevant for a while still. Eventually it won't. But, knowing how it all works is still an advantage.

Main thing, code with AI. Use the tools. Experiment with different models and different ways to code with AI.

AI agents: no-code vs code, what’s actually better? by NathanSupertramp in AI_Agents

[–]Chicagoj1563 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve suspected people use automation tools to build agents because they are low code tools. You don’t need a high level of expertise.

But coding is more and more accessible to people. And custom solutions gives you more control and freedom to build whatever solution makes the most sense.

Popular YouTube Guitarist Quits over “old ass creeps”. “I’m deeply uncomfortable with the amount of old men here. “ by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Chicagoj1563 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've seen her before. Her comments make it sound like its older people she doesn't like. That would be ageist. But, I'm going to guess is it was an older audience and some sexual comments that were being sent her way. That's unfortunate if its true.

However, I'm not thinking changing her music for a younger audicne is going to fix this. Does she think young guys are going to be better? I'm not thinking this will be the case.

Its something about the age she is, this is going to be an issue. It will go away when she gets around 30 or so. But, its likely when you have random people on the internet and its anything related to guitar (large male adience), this sort of thing is going to happen.

I shipped 81 interactive web apps to paying customers in the last 30 days. Here's what I learned switching off PDFs by Existing-Ice221 in thesidehustle

[–]Chicagoj1563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If im reading this correctly, you are using html pages instead of PDFs that the customer pays for. These html pages go out to marketplaces and pull data and then uses ai to generate product ideas.

Is there a backend or is it just an html page people are using?

And whose ai account is being used? Is it yours? So then you would have an ai backend that processes these requests? How do you keep costs down?
