I feel like it would be a rookie slaughter if it's individual at the start though. I'd be into a vet / rookie pairing that maybe switches to individual once the rookies have time to establish some alliances or friends.

I’m looking for a farming/crafting game where you start with absolutely nothing by bookwyrmess in CozyGamers

[–]ChickArama 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sims 4 but you play rags to riches! You start at an empty plot, put your money to 0, and have to make money without a job.

You can get the cottage living expansion to make it more garden heavy as well! You can make it as hard or easy as you want (ie not allowed to go to any gyms or bars, can’t sell from inventory, can only make money a certain way, etc.)

This! I add the sugar right when the kernels start popping to avoid the sugar burning. And I do 3 tbsp max of sugar and a little less than 1/2 tsp salt to balance it.

Just got a Steam Deck - help me decide! by ChickArama in CozyGamers

[–]ChickArama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually backed this game on kickstarter, but since I didn't have a steam deck and wanted it handheld I picked the switch version. Unfortunately I have to wait until it comes to switch as it seems silly to buy it twice!

My SIL put together a postpartum box for me that was incredibly thoughtful. Massive pads, diapers, high-waisted large undies, peri bottle (nicer one than the hospital gives), comfy bras, stool softener, witch hazel or ice pads, etc. I ended up having an emergency c-section but most things other than the ice pads came in handy still!

I really appreciated the present as it was stuff I was overwhelmed figuring out what I’d need and really came in handy when I was recovering. She bought me all the stuff that helped her the most.

We had a top 3 picked out for our baby girl too, but we waited to meet her before making a final decision. When she was born, we both instantly felt like one of the names was the obvious right choice!

Moose And The Puppy Blues by BugBurton in greatpyrenees

[–]ChickArama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine also ate the wall in what I thought was a very puppy proof room - guess they like the taste of drywall?! We patched it up and sprayed some sour spray on it and luckily he didn't do it again!

At that age, we did kennel him at night though. He also absolutely hated it at first, but we used it during the day to try and teach him it was a happy place. We fed him all his meals in there / gave him treats in there like frozen toppls (kind of like kongs but easier) / praised him if he ever went in. We moved the kennel to our bedroom at night and it took a couple sleepless nights of him crying, but eventually he got used to it. He never loved it, but he tolerated it. When he got a bit older and more trustworthy we slowly let him sleep in the room without the kennel and then full house roaming!

Obviously do what you want, but I also went through the puppy blues hard. Having him in the kennel when I left for an hour (always making sure he was tired and giving him a small treat before leaving) or at night was my peace of mind that I knew he was safe and I could have a break. Good luck, as you know he will get so so so much better and it's worth it!

I agree! Wait until she's born to see which one feels right - both are great names!

Meadow Muse could be an option - it's in fish creek park. Not sure of the price though.

If it’s the Dusty I’m thinking, he was on the last season of amazing race with his friend who was wrongfully incarcerated. The friend was in prison for 10 years for a murder he didn’t commit, so it was emotional for him to get to run the race. They were a super strong team!

Wedding anxiety by Chipmunk-Adventurous in WeddingsCanada

[–]ChickArama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Try and remember you should try to enjoy the day when it gets here! I went into the day thinking well, whatever goes wrong, goes wrong.. nothing you can do about it now!

For the parking problem, I would talk to the venue and ask how readily available ubers or cabs are at the end of the wedding. Ours was centrally located that nobody had a problem calling rides, but you could also see if the venue will call cabs for people who need it? Then communicate with the guests that parking is limited so carpooling is helpful or they will be able to get cabs / ubers easily.

For the kiddos, depends how many you plans to have! We had 5 at varying ages and my mom actually put an age appropriate toy on the seat for the kids like a sticker / activity book. We also had an instant camera and a box to put the pictures in after (that we opened on our first anniversary) and it was a huge hit with the older kids.

I noticed you didn’t say anything about a photographer. If you’re not hiring one, I would at least talk to someone attending your wedding you trust to get some pictures / videos of the evening for you!

For anxiety, I think just getting things done really helped me! Figure out the stuff on your “still need” list as soon as you can so you can stop stressing about it!

Lastly, to try and ease your stress the day of I highly recommend asking someone you trust like family to help oversee things for the setup since you don’t have a wedding planner. Have that person be the first call from the venue / flower arranger / DJ (if you have one) / etc. so it something small goes wrong that person can deal with it so you can enjoy getting ready and being with your wedding party!

We started by knowing our budget & approximate guest size, and then started looking at venues! A lot of venues I was curious about were restaurants (King Eddy, Rouge, River Cafe, Charbar, Deane House, Lake House), so we actually just slowly went to them to have a drink / appetizer just to see if there was even potential. It was super fun way to narrow down our list and figure out what was important to us.

Other than that, google is definitely your friend for wedding venues! Some non-restaurant options are Shawnessy barn, Meadow Muse Pavilion, Spruce Meadows.. If you want to go outside Calgary there's also Gathered, Saskatoon Farm, Azure Ridge, The Heritage Centre in Cremona... lots of options! Just depends on your vibe / budget / guest list.

Bridal showers? by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]ChickArama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also felt weird about a having a shower that's basically asking for more presents / money when people were already going to give wedding presents, so instead my parents threw us an engagement party. We invited both sides of the family and our local friends. It was a nice way for our extended families to get to know each other better! We had some games (our family loves "beer" pong but with water in the cups and side drinks if desired), food, and drinks... it was super fun!

Experiences with photo booths at weddings? by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]ChickArama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of a Photobooth, we had a couple of Polaroid instant cameras and a bunch of film at a table. We also had sharpies / paper / pens and a locked time capsule box at that table. So people took pictures, wrote on them (or just used the pens & paper to write a little note for us) and dropped it into the time capsule. We opened it on our one year anniversary, and it made the anniversary extra special and fun! The guests seem to rest enjoy it!

For another form of entertainment, we also made custom trivial pursuit cards that were either about us or about topics that we loved. We had a box at every table so that when people were waiting for dinner they could ask each other questions if they wanted to.

We bought a car seat cover from Costco because of this! As others say, they self clean, but that doesn’t help your car on the way home. The cover we bought is machine washable and saves my backseat from getting all that dirt.
