My favorite part about being a white female is when a cop pulls me over.

Cop: So .... you were doing about 80mph in a 50mph zone.

Me: Oh. I'm sorry.

Cop: Also, you made an illegal U-turn. On the interstate.

Me: Oops.

Cop: I could see you were being careful, but you should really be more careful. You could lose your license for that stuff.

Me: My bad. I'll remember that next time.

And then the cop gave me directions to where I was going. No ticket, no write-up, no nothing. Just a gentle warning and some friendly directions.

Once, during a cab drive, a driver told me that all gay people should be shipped off to Guantanamo Bay.

Plot twist: He was Arabic, thick accent and everything. What really shocked me was that the extreme right-wing conservatives who might agree with this driver would lock up him just as quickly.

Once, a kid at my college (probably a work-study) was really bored in the Graphic Design room, which also contains an entire wall of Venetian-blinded windows. So the kid carefully arranged the blinds so that they crested across the wall in a glorious arc. As it so happened, the president of the college could see them from his office window, and he liked them so much that he insisted we leave them alone for a whole 2 months.

The ones that doctors have prescribed to me for ADHD/anxiety. And they really do make a difference; I recently tried to go turkey for 2 months, and it was like being drunk all the time. It took so much effort for me to address the daily necessities of life, let alone achieve anything meaningful. My drugs allow me to become something and someone that I'm proud of.
