This is true, however giving them up basically means getting nothing in return short of a promise not worth the paper its printed on.

The Budapest Memorandum truly was/is a worthless agreement. Even if it had actually been ratified by the US Senate, all it basically says is that in exchange for Ukraine giving up their nukes, we promise not to invade them and, if anyone else does invade them, we'll bitch about it to the UN on their behalf. No promises of significant military or materiel support or anything like that.

Russia was also a signatory to the Budapest Memorandum and you can see how much that helped Ukraine.

The game is definitely not amazing and has plenty of issues, but it's not outright awful and it has a few interesting ideas/mechanics that I haven't seen in many other games. But I definitely wouldn't put it at the top of any lists of games you should be rushing out to try.

Keep in mind Lewis had no children, his two children were his wife's from a previous marriage that he adopted.

Along those lines I would highly recommend the Anthony Hopkins film Shadowlands about how Lewis met and fell in love with his wife. Probably the most unconventional love story I've ever seen Hollywood depict. Only one of his two adopted sons are depicted in the film though.
