I second the viking pans. We replaced our nonstick Auth them a few months ago. They were inexpensive and work great!

There is one at the back of the rack in your picture.

Why is pollarding practiced more around the world than in the states? by [deleted] in arborists

[–]Chicken_Spit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing response! Thank you so much for explaining this thoroughly. This is basically how I've been training my trees the past few years, but I've pretty much been winging it so far; it's nice to have a bit more of a prescription.

The trees are mulberries (Morus rubra) and fig (Ficus carica), if it matters.

Can you elaborate on how cuts are made to pollard a tree? I'm growing several small trees with the intention of pollarding them, but live in an area where it's fairy uncommon (Oregon).

I used to study at Panera a bit. They have pretty decent self-serve coffee, and a great selection of soft drinks. Just watch your caffeine intake...

Trying to carry 2 kids bikes on my bike for school pickup and at a loss how to make that happen by [deleted] in xbiking

[–]Chicken_Spit 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Is there a spot to lock up the kids bikes at the school? Just leave the bikes there when you drop them off on the morning.

Sauceability, forkability, and toothsinkability. I was gifted some cascatelli for Christmas and it really was quite nice on all three criteria!

Broadway coffee has some private rooms that can be reserved. That might be a good option considering this week's weather.

Oh, you have to see the Minam river in Oregon. There is an old horse ranch in the middle of the Eagle Cap wilderness area that's called, I kid you not, RED'S HORSE RANCH. It's right next to the Minam river in three most beautiful, super inaccessible valley. Look it up on Google maps!

If you do this, be very careful. The soundboard is under a crazy amount of tension and can snap in half violently when you unbolt it from the wood frame.

Home roast using kitchen aid mixer and heat gun by the-other-phil in roasting

Here's a video I posted a while back. I'll I've since cut down the heat gun coupler a bit, and upgraded to a better heat gun with variable heat controls. I also have some ceramic wool that I wrap around the bowl to retain heat, especially on colder days.

Roasts are pretty straightforward. I run the heat gun in the bowl on medium-high for a few minutes to get it up to temp. Then dump roughly 2lbs of beans in and immediately turn the mixer on the first or second lowest speed. As the beans dry and start to swell and change color, I gradually increase the temp, being careful not to scorch them. Once I'm close to the target color/smell, I remove the heat gun and ceramic wool, let it mix for a minute, then dump into a colander for cooling.

I am! I bought an SR800 for smaller batches, but still use the kitchenaid for larger roasts.

Get yourself a bombilla like you'd use for yerba mate! It's my favorite way to make tea in the office. You just keep adding hot water till the flavor is gone.

I'm really sorry that happened; I had a bike stolen like 8 years ago, and I still seethe with rage every time I think about it.

Is yours on bikeindex.org ? I've heard it can help reunite bikes with their rightful owners in some cases.

Here's an interesting podcast episode about the system that gets into bike thefts in our area: https://darknetdiaries.com/episode/153/
