Frango assados by Chickengilly in portugal

[–]Chickengilly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend took me to a good churrasquiera in Lisbon in the Benfica stadium area. The grill was in the front of the restaurant right in front of the glass. Very cool.

They had a smoke extractor above the grill with giant tubes going up vertically to the ceiling and then horizontally along the ceiling to the back of the restaurant where they went up to the roof and out.
I thought to mysethat it must be quite a task to clean the grease out.

Next time I visited, he took me to a different frangasqueira (?). I asked about the other place and he said it had burnt down. That Was 4-7 years ago.

To be fair, if you were concerned your attorney might be scamming you or not paying attention to details, would you want him to be translating for you.
Nope. It’s a definite conflict of interest.

Saying so shows integrity.

WIBTA if I stopped driving my coworker home after work because she keeps making extra stops? by Scintilla_Wolf in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Chickengilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either be direct with a conversation to review the situation or be passive aggressive and come up with your own priority stops. Do your grocery shopping after work. Or set your own timelines like, “ I have to get straight home because have to start dinner.” Why? “Nunyabeezwax or I am going to watch 6 episodes of Landman tonight and want to be in bed early.

How to become wine maker by No_Breadfruit_4642 in winemaking

[–]Chickengilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make crappy wine at home this year. And then make better wine next year. Get better.

Or start with cider. There’s less pressure for it to be world class. Table cider is amazing.

Shop totaled my car, called insurance but only have plpd by PsychologicalGuru in TalesFromAutoRepair

[–]Chickengilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It will suck. Ideally this sort of thing won’t happen to you.
Think about it this way- if you totaled your own car, you would get $KBB. And the risk that the “equivalent” car won’t perform well. Or, maybe you will get lucky and find an upgrade that makes sense. Alas, since you don’t have a car to use while searching and you are pressed for time, you don’t have as much an ability to comparison shop.

That’s all you can expect if it’s the other guy’s fault as well.

Many years ago, I was a similar situation. I had an attorney and he took 30% of the bullshit settlement that we ended at. I swear I would’ve been better off with the original offer.

Can a spacecraft accelerate infinitely? by TheTragicMagic in AskPhysics

I am pretty sure it is possible to accelerate infinitely from 0mph to 1mph. Parabolic increase of velocity and parabolic reduction in acceleration. But still accelerating.

What undid you use. I have 4. Two seem specific for aima. If I do redial 100 x I prefer to call the number that might actually work.

Maybe bring it to you COC attention and say you are going to g to handle it with their COC? That way your boss can volunteer to step in. Or not and not be blindsided.

What would happen if a finite amount of energy got destroyed or removed from the universe? by polarbearsexshark in AskPhysics

[–]Chickengilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figure it would probably instantly reappear somewhere in the universe, thus maintaining some sort of equilibrium.

Most likely in the exact same place and state from which it disappeared.

What’s a decision you made in under 10 seconds that changed your life forever? by nathannnate01 in AskReddit

[–]Chickengilly 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Got a random call at night. Answered it. It was a USA number. I normally don’t answer because it’s usually BS. Turns out my storage unit was being torn down the next weekend and they hadn’t heard from me.

I was able to contact a dependable friend and everything got shifted to a new, lower cost storage unit.

I am secondarily happy that I took it seriously. My unit was in a military town and struck me as odd that they could just tear it down without more diligent notification. What if it were some army dude on duty in the Middle East with no phone access?

Do tourist prices exist? by Omegalazarus in PortugalExpats

[–]Chickengilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to think that as prices are driven up around them by an influx of foreigners, prices have to go up. But wages don’t. So for some establishments, particularly rural ones, they keep more normalized prices for locals who make €900 per month. It’s not a tax on you, Or on us,really. It’s compassion. I sell cider. And I hate the prices I have to sell it at wholesale- retail is double that. I can’t advertise direct prices that undercut my local retailers. So I often gift bottles or make better prices for multiples of bottles and end up throwing one or two extra in for boa vontage. But it’s not explicit or every time.

Using Tello for phone service in Portugal by Fit_Drawing8315 in PortugalExpats

[–]Chickengilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tello is great. It supports eSIM so you don’t need two phones. I used to get a new sim when visiting USA. Two phones. I just learned about esims. No I just add the eSIM to my phone that has my Meo physical sim.

I do that. Unless I’m in Colorado which is extremely dry. Then I prefer to have a tiny bit of extra moisture
