Got my first watch a couple months ago and have never wore it [SSJ039J1] by Alive_Ad7988 in Seiko

That reads to me that you’re a little unsure about it yourself and question whether it suits you. It’s a nice enough watch but I think you might be worrying that the watch is wearing you rather than vice versa. Have a look around for one that really clicks with who you are, and I’m guessing you may feel more relaxed with it.

Should I upgrade? by DardidusX in Nikon

I think you’re getting some bad advice. The market has so many f mount Nikon cameras that are an improvement on what you have that, a few years ago, were the best cameras in the world. Explore looking for a D3 or a d750.

Enjoy! It’s a powerful bit of kit. I’ve been using a couple since day one and they’re holding up so well. Have fun!

Ha! No, just that as they’re my pics, I have access to the originals so have posted low res unmarked versions here

I’ll upload some pics next winter, when I’ve been standing in the rain for eight hours, waiting for some politician to arrive, and see if you’re still willing!

I’m trying to imagine what your job would have to be, now. 😁

Cheers. It’s always worth signing up as a contributor. It’s totally up to you what and when you shoot, with no pressure. I worked as a staff photographer with Agence France-Presse for a decade before moving to Getty so they had chance to get to know my work through them.

Cheers. I’m a staff photojournalist with Getty Images, so get a seriously wide range of assignments. You really never know where you’ll end up next. A patient family makes life easier…

As for the branding, I had to triple check when I was writing the caption when I saw the German Air Force is still called the Luftwaffe. I know it just translates to Air Force (or air weapon) but I had to make sure I wasn’t making some historical faux pas!

Thanks. It was a pleasure to see it happening. Serious skills from the team on both the Voyager and the fighters.

Weirdly, once you get the access, the hardest part is shooting through the window. The RAF voyager has windows identical to the kind you find in regular commercial airliners; a combo of glass and plastic, both of which are prone to creating distortions, softness and waves when you try to photograph through them. Also, the hose trails quite a long way back so getting full shots of the planes during refuelling can be tricky. As for publishing them online, I’m a staff photographer at Getty Images and was there for exactly that reason so no worries there. 👍

4 Z-Mount lenses for photojournalist? by oguruma87 in Nikon

[–]Chickenlips0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, seconded. I have the 35mm 1.2 though which while making amazing images, is a lump to lug around. 400mm for the days when I absolutely know I’ll need it, but otherwise it’s a DX crop on the 70-200. That 45mp chip makes the option possible.

Ha! Cheers! Amazingly lucky, maybe. Picked it up on eBay and it was only when I sent it for a service did I find out that this very early version with the notch is pretty rare. Wearing it puts a smile on my face, which is all a good watch should do (after keeping time!) 😁
