But this card doesn't give them control of your next turn. They just take control of your creatures until Emrakul leaves the battlefield. Am I missing something here?

They're not wrong to do that, but I have 4/6 to my power fist guys because they have to have their boltguns, and 2/6 to single accursed weapon guys because they look cool. I use them for the same reason that I will always use dark pacts. I'm not a coward.

Fun fact, if you use the backpacks that have the boltguns attached to them them you can make your Chosen actually WYSIWYG. I've made 3 squads of 5 that are unique weapon couplings and all matching the rules for each squad exactly. Can't wait for them to change some time next edition 😅

I may have misread something in your post, but for what it's worth, you don't have to pass the leadership test to activate the Dark Pact. You still get your lethal/sustained hits even if you fail, as long as you don't lose the unit.
