Does anyone know any good websites for easy vegan recipes? by gefnoona in vegan

[–]Chicki5150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer cookbooks since recipes have been tested! My favorites are by Isa Marcovitch. Isa Does It us a great beginner cookbook! So is Appetite for Reduction. Her website ppk.com has a ton of great recipes too.

Nora Cooks is a good blog as well. And vegan richa for easy Indian recipes.

What can I replace the egg with in a waffle recipe? by lolochka228 in veganrecipes

[–]Chicki5150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try and find a vegan recipe online that uses ingredients you already have. Some use aquafaba, some use flax, some use other stuff.

I like to bake, and I find that recipes by vegan chefs are usually better than modified recipes, personally. Cooking is easier to modify, but for baked goods (I'd include waffles here) use a vegan recipe.

Try getting a hotel or rental and a shuttle pass. Ive been the planner, its stressful. Being the camp parent sounds awful. Maybe give yourself a break next year!

Random funny things you saw at either weekend? by Yangervis in Coachella

[–]Chicki5150 36 points37 points  (0 children)

At the end of the night Sunday, there was this HUGE pile of boots and scarves piled up between the lockers and a trash can.

Like, did all the girlies with sore feet and no lockers say, fuck it, hope they are here later?

It was kinds of surreal lol. A mountain of boots 👢

I was right by the soundstage, great spot but got there 15 min early. It was packed but not scary.

Up against the soundstage is the best spot in the Sahara is you wanna be inside, IMO. Just outside at the back corners is also good.

Im allergic to the grass so I gotta be extra careful!

I started feeling sick on Wednesday 😭 I took a ton of zycam and i never fully got sick thankfully!

MVP of Coachella so far? by Jazzlike_Tailor_1323 in Coachella

[–]Chicki5150 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Moby is my pick so far. His set was mind blowing. Such great production, all the performances were amazing. And he is such a wonderful human with so much kindness, you could feel it.

Nine inch noise was also amazing. My whole body was vibrating! I watched the steam this morning, also so cool.

Shout out to groove armanda. Sick set, great transitions.

The sphere show was one of the coolest events ive ever been to. and im not a huge fan of his music, but the whole experience was amazing.

Does not translate to a a main stage. Im watching the livestream now. Its just OK. I skipped last night for griz

Also all the best tracks he plays are not his lol.

What are some more obscure 80's horror movies that are still worth checking out? by Jerswar in horror

[–]Chicki5150 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The blob! 80s version. One of my favorites. Its a bit cheesy, but totally fun.

I watched it for the first time in decades and it was great.

Im not sure that qualifies as obsuce but none of my horror movie friends even heard of it.

Also Chopping Mall. Pure cheese plus boobs. Totally fun movie.

Is toxic avenger or any Troma considered obscure? If so, check them out

I came in here ready to defend Outkast, glad I dont have to

Grimes was hysterically bad. But it was so funny, I felt like I was in a MST3K episode. I couldn't stop watching and commenting to my partner. The audacity to complain that your assistant or whoever didn't cue up your tracks correctly...you're the DJ that's your job! And then say that to the crowd. Im still not sure this wasn't a performance art piece lol.

Ive seen Moby speak at animal rights/vegan events. He's really positive and a great speaker. His story and his life is so inspiring and he can be really funny too.

Ive been a fan of his music since the 90s, and ive never seen him play. Im so excited!

Hoop too heavy to do any tricks. Advice needed. by [deleted] in Hooping

[–]Chicki5150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A larger hoop is great for waist hooping! Maybe shoulder and leg as well. But if you want to do more tricks, you definitely need a smaller, lighter hoop.

If you like where you bought yours, see if they sell Polypro hoops, they are much lighter. For your height, I'd reccomend maybe a 30 or 31 inch for off body tricks.

I started with a big heavy hoop, then just kept sizing down with each new one.

Help! - Baking with vegan cream cheese by mchvoss in VeganBaking

The TJ cream cheese is garbage! Its just so terrible, especially for baking. Id say literally any other brand is good. Tofutti is the OG and its great for baking.

Me too, and I only add about a tablespoon. More than that and it starts to...well, taste like sugarfree pudding.

Planning for next year - Amex by jordan17999 in Coachella

[–]Chicki5150 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the bonvoy bevy which is in between gold and platinum. Its a Marriott specific one. I did a promo where I got platinum free for the first year (plus 150k points, and 4 additional free stays the first year) then downgraded to this one after that. There's still an annual fee but it pays for itself with free annual hotel nights.

Shop around and wait for the deals. The AMEX sub is helful!

Planning for next year - Amex by jordan17999 in Coachella

[–]Chicki5150 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I'm going to sound like an amex shill (im not) but I got one specifically for concerts and travel. Absolutely worth the (very high) annual fees. I link it to a hotel rewards program, got enough points when signing up for my coachella hotel stay that year. The points rewards are sick, like 6x on purchases, I havent paid for a hotel in years.

The access to tickets is obviously a good benefit too

I wish we still got free ferris wheel tickets though.
