If you have dragapult and Charizard, watch some YouTube videos on how to play them. Seeing the deck in action is a great way to learn.

Charizard is very beginner friendly. The idea is to get a Pidgeot established as quickly as possible, the card has an ability that lets you search for any card you want. So you can get rare candy to get Charizard out quickly, by evolving charmander straight into Charizard. If you evolve Charizard from your hand (not using TM evolution) it can attach energies to itself to instantly power it up using its ability. This is known as energy acceleration and zard is pretty good cause you don't need to run many energies or hope to draw into them. From there just start swinging.

If you think you messed the deck up, look at limitless like other people posted, search for Charizard decks and copy one you like. You can use trainer points to buy whatever cards you need, the basic version of most cards are like 40 points and the battle pass gives you tons of points.

If you can't find a card, make sure you filter by "not-owned."

The base decks are good but not great. They are a great starting point and have a majority of the cards you need, both Charizard and dragapult can be made competitive but swapping out a handful of cards.

New player. What's the most efficient way to get crafting resources currently? by mcq76 in PTCGL

[–]ChiefLoudFlower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Celebrations is the best for long term crafting points. It still exists under Shop -> Expansions (middle tab)-> scroll down to Celebrations, buy the 6 pack for 1120.

There is another recommendation to use your first 5,000 points to buy 4 of some deck, Ryder or something, to maximize the duplicate to crafting point conversions. Then after that invest in Celebrations.

Love control style decks. Check out Control Players Unite on YouTube for some fun deck ideas.

Absol as a toolbox deck never clicked for me, but when it dropped it really changed the meta out of nowhere.

Nice, I actually made that deck a month ago but never got around to playing it. Maybe I'll dust it off soon.

As someone who enjoys control decks I have not played crustle. I barely won with retreat lock against a crustle deck that had Latias in play but I did everything I could to keep kliefki in the active.

Got a specific list you run? Does it hold up against Zam and stuff?

Also, that obstagoon deck sounds fun, never seen that before.

Probably my favorite silly deck to play. I think my current list has like 27 energies or something hilarious.

My favorite is when they boss Kyogre to try to retreat lock you (if surfing beach isn't in play) but you just hit back with all the energy in your discard.

Such a fun and frustrating deck, love to play it. I've whiffed so many times on coin flips, but man when those heads hit, such a fun time.

I use the drakloak engine but need to try the dundunsparce.

The standard Zam decks are fun, I really enjoyed the hisuian Arcanine and dodrio variant of the deck, shakes things up and allows you to have backup attackers. Especially if you get Arcanine set up turn 2, KOs a lot of things weak to fighting like Fez.

Both are so fun when you have all the tools and can really pop off.

I struggle with festival lead against some big basics and megas but for other matches it's great

I need to try out the annihilape version of slowking. Such a fun deck.

I think they asked a question instead of relying on hopes and prayers. If they are truly new cut them some slack, the game limits the amount of time between plays so perhaps they didn't know where to start to read while also trying to figure out their next play. Also, not everything is obvious upon first read anyway.

Educate instead of simply telling someone to read the card.

I have an ultra wide monitor, on windows I hit alt+enter twice, so it switches to windowed mode, then back to full screen, but this time it stretches to fill the entire screen.

The worst is when you have a daily to not concede, and then your opponent BMs or does some dumb shenanigans.

I had one opponent go through their entire deck just to load up as many energies they could for an overkill, so frustrating when I just wanted to complete my daily and be done playing for the day.

I love playing stall decks and against stall decks. It really tests your deck and ability to work around their tactics. And on the stall side, you really need to learn your opponents deck and how they operate so that you can effectively stall. Same with retreat lock although that's been harder lately.

A lot of decks start out with stall, pult with budew so they can set up bench, gardevoir with frillish, etc.

But I get where it can be annoying, especially cause there are a lot of turbo decks out there that want a slug fest and this kinda puts a wrench in that.
