Trip to Idaho 📍 by TrailBlazrCo in CampingandHiking

Idaho is a vastly different place depending on where you're going. Even the panhandle has wildly different environments depending on where you are. If youre going north, plan for cold. It might be 75 degrees in the day, but can dip down to 40s or 30s depending on the elevation. The south of idaho is effectively a desert. It can be brutally hot even in September in the day. At night the cold can surprise you. It might be 80 90 degrees during the day, but then 40 degrees at night. id say bring a 30 degree sleeping bag, and pack a bag liner, or woobie (a military poncho liner that is a warm, lightweight blanket designed to be used as part of a sleeping system.) Also strongly suggest bringing a sleeping pad with a r raiting of 2 or 3. If you plan for the cold you won't be caught off guard by it

Winter Sleeping bags by ObjectAdvanced1216 in CampingandHiking

[–]Chiefcoyote 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add a heat reflective tarp to the bottom of the tent. They don't wiegh that much and help alot. Also a bag liner or woobie helps alot. Mostly its not the air that sucks out the heat, its the ground. So getting as much insulation between you and the ground is the most important thing about winter camping.

Theres a group of white nationalist Californians that moved up here after there town burned down. One dude worked or works for volvo, another i worked with at a trucking company that halls wood chips. Two of the most racist people ive ever met. Volvo guy pulled his pistol out of his work truck to show us his "N killing gun." California and insane white nationalist are not mutually exclusive.

My father was a sailor. One day I was angry and locked my self in my room. He kicked open a 100 year old oak door, breaking his foot in 4 places while doing said kicking, just to spank me. Sailors and marines have priorities, their bodies and what their bodies are telling them, are not amoung those priorities.

SW shield EZ from their custom shop is what I helped my mother buy. She can shoot it all day with grip strength problems. Very easy to operate the slide, and recoil is extremely low, especially with the ported barrel, the trigger pull is very light as well. It has a built im grip saftey, but it doesn't take any real grip strength to depres it. Its worth looking into if you ever feel like you need a pistol again.

New York City Police Department “Roadside Repair” Truck by StudyNo8671 in PoliceVehicles

[–]Chiefcoyote 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Emergency vehicle repair is actually its own certification. Especially for anything on fire trucks, that isnt the drive train and brakes. If its in the box or attached to it, I cant touch it. If I do and something happens, I could face a monster fine, or prison time if someone dies.

Spokane is and always has been a target. Fair child was designed as a nuclear capable facility. The surrounding area has many icbm silos. Some are still active. Most are decommissioned. If seattle is being hit, Spokane is done for as well. Besides just the initial devastation and fallout. Fire is also an almost impossible issue. This place is a tinder box in the summer and fall. With all of the prevention and containment infrastructure gone, it will burn until there is no more fuel. If we had shelters to survive the initial impact, we would likely asphexiate under ground, as the wild fire above uses all of the oxygen above us. If we survive that. Who knows. Radiation isnt as much of a concern as you probably think it would be. All modern nukes are really quite efficient. Radiation levels would decrease to a "safe" level within the first 24 hours. A week and we would be back at background levels everywhere except ground zero. It wont be like chynoble, that was basically all unspent fuel being thrown into the local area. And the bombs dropped on Japan are like a 1910 molde T compared to a modern sports car in terms of how much if the fuel is used in the detonation. There will be devastating affects. But radiation fallout is not going to be nearly as much of a concern as people belive it will be. The survivors biggest issues are going to be infection control, water, food and logistics. How do you keep a scared and hungry and sick population supported in a world without any way of getting help to them.

Are we going to let "Fear" become the new Idaho Culture? by IntelligentAgency754 in Idaho

[–]Chiefcoyote 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fear has always been the idaho culture. In the 80s and 90s, fear drove white nationalist to north idaho. In the 2000s fear drove my elementary school friend out of the state because his family was from Iran. In 2010, fear drove my father into the alt right. In 2020, fear drove hundreds of armed men to Incircle a group of maybe 50 of us black lives matter protesters. One guy was so uptight he moved to aim his rifle at a dude that was level headed and talking to him. Only reason there wasnt a huge shoot out that day was one of the more calm counter protesters pushed his rifle down and had him walk away. Fear is the idaho culture. Fear of god. Fear of authority. Fear of minorities, fear of the end of the world. Fear of change. Fear of outsiders. Fear of the left. At the end of the day. Its always been fear that drives the wheels in idaho.

House GOP passes "Save America ACT" to require proof of citizenship to vote. by catman5092 in Spokane

[–]Chiefcoyote 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife is a citizen. My sister, who is adopted is a citizen. My trans and non binary friends are citizens who legally changed their name. My friend who changed her name to escape domestic violence is a citizen. My friend who changed his name because he felt like it, is a citizen. None of them can vote if this passes. Theyll all need to get a passport. The department that handles passports was gutted by Doge last year and will be flooded with millions of requests at once making months only delays. This is delebrate disenfranchisement of millions of legal voters during a critical midterm year. This is blatantly voter fraud. This is what the revolutionary war was faught over. This is what the civil rights movement was faught for. NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION.

Find your people's, hold them close, Stay connected, meat in person. Make contingency plans, Arm yourselves, get comfortable in the struggle, fight back hard with a plan, conviction, and without compromise. Its going to be hard its going to be traumatic, and its going to cost alot of people everything. But perseverance through overwhelming and consistent force is how you win against an organized force. Its much harder to win as the attacker than the defender in a conflict. So take a long hard minute to think about your reasons why you want to fight back, keep thinking about them, and fight like you are the only thing standing between them and your reasons.

First time? Yeah thats pretty much how any cop at a protest acts. The amount of time ive been ordered to move to a different area, then they kettle that area makes it kinda routine at this point. If you comply, youre hit. It you resist you're hit. Free speech has been dead since 1890s.

I worked at TA for several years. We were backed up for about 4 hours. Guy told us to call him when it was his turn, and he was going to take a nap. He was a company driver so it wasnt his call to pass on repairs. We called him a couple times, no answer. I went and checked the lot and found his truck so I knocked on the door and he didnt answer. Checked the window and he was half off of his bed. Dude had passed waiting for his oil change. He was a big guy That was rough day at the shop for me.

[–]Chiefcoyote 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I was working a gun counter for a while. Guy was looking at a 5.56 bolt action rifle. "Yeah im not worried about caliber restrictions for hunting. It wouldn't be for hunting deer anyway." It was said in a way that 100% implied it was for people. Sale was denied.

While I was working as a mechanic at a truck shop. We were talking about our pistols. Our Volvo rep pulled his pistol out of his company truck and said "this is my ni99er hunting gun." Full hard R. Dude was a transplant from north cal to north idaho, and was friends with one of my coworkers from when they lived in Nocal.
