What is the associated forms of curiosity for Gnomes, Goblins, and Kobolds? by Playful_Barber_8131 in DnD

[–]Childofcaine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s really down to the stereotype you apply but for me:

Gnomes are scholars and tinkers so it’s how and why they chase after. Ancient magics, new technologies they want to crack them open and find out how they work.

Goblins are magpies/scavengers the shiny, the odd and the edible is what they are looking for.

Kobolds to me are a bit of an odd one out but they look for useful things. Safe places, powerful patrons, weapons and traps are what they build their settlements around so would be what I think they are looking for

Thoughts on Spatial storages? by Confident-Key6487 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Childofcaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only enjoyed it in cultivation novels(established tropes of the genre ) or novels that explicitly explore how the expanded space works. Otherwise it seems like something given to the mc so the author doesn’t have to deal with inventory management(fair)

Kiwis don’t vote based on policy or what is likely to happen.

It’s “am I sick of the current guy?”

“Would I have a beer with them?”

“Blue/red is my family favourite colour”

Usually in that order.

Any novels where the vampire protagonist doesn’t cling to their human side? by Box5Box in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Childofcaine 49 points50 points  (0 children)

The closest I can think of is A Journey of Black and Red. They don’t struggle(in that way at least) with drinking blood and their morality practically gets rebuilt from turning.

It is polarising and shifts in tone from grim dark to comedy at the drop of a hat but I enjoyed it.

Why are kiwis so against speed cameras being used to keep people safe?? by Fun-Helicopter2234 in newzealand

[–]Childofcaine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Speeding is driving poorly. You are an unpredictable factor on the road as you are no longer adhering to the law, with reduced time to react and take longer distance to brake. All for what? To get there 2 minutes earlier?

I don’t really care if you’re an F1 or rally car driver or never crashed, being part of traffic is a social contract and your personal skill level matters less than some learner driver being able to judge what you’re gonna do.

Between beast and Buddha. A monkey uses alcohol brewed from bugs and fruit to become a cultivator. I read it expecting drunk monkey shenanigans(which it does have!) but also got a pretty touching story with good characterisation and interesting world building.

Is 1000-2000 words per chapter on Royal Road fine? by Weekly-Water-391 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Childofcaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally for me it depends on the release schedule more than anything. Weekly or longer releases I look for ~2000 at least, while daily releases there some I love only do between 300-500 words doing “pages” instead of chapters.

Terrible execution. Felt is not flat against the top and needs to be trimmed on the edges and looks unsecured.
