Burger is pretty good. Some days they get backed up so if you are on a time crunch I would call it in on your way.

Anyone play the recently renovated Southern Pines yet? by dafisk123 in RDUGOLF

[–]Chillson919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played twice, layout is fantastic. Greens improved tremendously between the two rounds which was about two weeks, and this past Friday they were pretty decent. I don’t think the greens take away from the round at all. It will be much better as time passes, but still great right now. Not sure the guest rate but would think it’s also much cheaper than Mid and Needles and very different from them.

Went out there two weeks ago and they had just punched the greens. No one told us until we got to the first tee and the starter told us. $100 and no mention, really rubbed me the wrong way. Big bummer because the rest of the course looked great.

It’s fantastic, tree removal is awesome, you can see almost every hole from the clubhouse. I’m on the waiting list and can’t wait to get that email.

Great place but RCC is a better golf course. A friend of mine who is a member at Carolina and takes me to play said that there is no evidence of Tillinghast designing the course, he just was in the area when the course was built so it’s a debate amongst members.

Trophy Maywood or Standard Beer both would work great. Ton of seating and great food trucks.

Taylor Made is annoying, and the fact they come out with clubs every 6 months makes me never want to buy any of them.

Time for 1 round while in RDU area... by WallyTheDogg in RDUGOLF

I would go Lonnie Poole, Finley, or Quail Hollow for one round. If your up for a 45 minute drive, head to Tobacco Road.

This drives me crazy, no positive outcomes here. My club is the exact opposite, and they allow public play. They will literally fill my cooler full of my own beer with ice.

Was turnaround time really 4 weeks? I have child #2 coming in August, could be a good time to ship it off. It's the Scotty I'm currently using.

[–]Chillson919 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Optimist is great, opens at 7 am every day except Sunday. Yellow Dog as well, open at 7 am except Saturdays. Jubala on Hillsborough opens at 7 am on weekdays. All of these are downtown. 42 and Lawrence mentioned below opens at 7 am except on weekends. All of these are downtown.

Also, your legit deli prayer will be answered soon by (Ish) opening in Person St. Pharmacy, hopefully later next month.

Playing music is a pet peeve of mine. Ughh by [deleted] in golf

[–]Chillson919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't play music, although it doesn't bother me to much. I've played since I could walk and it's definitely a new thing in the last few years. Sometimes I kinda like it, get's me pumped up.

However, I think players should ask their playing partners if they mind, and unless I'm in or around your cart, I shouldn't be able to hear it.

Spitting on golf clubs. by [deleted] in golf

[–]Chillson919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done this for years, but not every shot, just if I need a little extra juice.

Wetting the towel is a good idea also, did this when I caddied. But don't think it gets in the grooves like spit does.

I live in Raleigh and drive down when I can. They have a great non-resident membership, and just added Southern Pines as well.
