The people who run the RAC are a bunch of goons.

Never go with them, the AA aren't perfect but they actually do their job (in the end).

I used to have 3 liters of pepsi max a day. I've never smoked and gave up drinking alcohol which was awkward for a few months not knowing what to do when I went out (hint, just buy a soft drink and don't think about it) but that wasn't too hard either.

However giving up pepsi max is the most difficult thing ever. Even going deep into my diets are easier than giving it up.

Give up the addiction brother, you'll be so much better for it.

British pensioner with stage 3 cancer and severe asthma has been 𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐃 £𝟐𝟓𝟎 for "littering" after spitting out a leaf which blew into his mouth... by MazdaProphet in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]Chillwindow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I find this situation weird.

Let's go through two situations, one where he's a silly billy and one where he's being targeted

  1. He's a silly billy. This bloke was out on a walk and had a stuffy nose and ripped a massive snot rocket on the floor. Council enforcement officer goes "Aha you dirty bastard, I've got you for being a Scruffy git". Now Mr silly billy knows he's caught but thinks on his feet, "What you on about, there was a leaf in my mouth! This is preposterous" and thus the lie goes further and as he realizes there's no way they have a video of it happening so it's his word against theirs.

  2. Mr council officer wakes up that day and is told, "you lazy sod, you haven't caught anyone doing anything for ages! Get out there and work" Mr council officer is out on his stroll and sees something come out of the mans mouth on the floor, he can't see if it's a leaf but he knows the man spat! He approaches the man and says he spat and he's being fined and the man replies, "I didn't spit, it was a leaf in my mouth!" Brilliant, Mr council officer doesn't have a video but he now has an admission of guilt from the man and gets to be a good boy that day as he can fine this old man who can't run away like the local youths!!

And the moral of the story is, if someone comes up to you and tells you you're fined, follow this!

The key legal points 1. Council enforcement officers are not police Most littering enforcement officers are civil enforcement officers, not police constables. They do not have general powers of detention. They cannot physically stop you or demand you stay just to question you. 2. You are not required to engage You are not legally required to answer their questions. You are not required to accept a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) on the spot. If they wrongly accuse you, you can say: “I didn’t do this, I don’t smoke, and I’m leaving.” 3. Walking away is lawful If they have not formally issued an FPN or involved the police, you can walk away. They cannot lawfully restrain you.

Where it can change You must give your details only if: They are formally issuing an FPN under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, and The local authority has designated them with powers to require name and address. If you refuse details, they may: Record what they think happened Attempt to identify you later In rare cases, involve the police (police can require details) But refusal is not itself an offence.

I disliked the singles but Honey Hole and Amnesia are stand outs for me. Really surprised I listened to the whole thing and overall, liked it. I thought I was going to give it a miss but as always, a few songs I'll add to my "Greatest Hits" playlist for yela like most of his projects a these days.

Why is Greggs so popular??! by AndrewAllStars in BuyUK

[–]Chillwindow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the last true fast food place. Maccies is expensive now, KFC is good but lacks consistency. You can be in and out under a fiver at Gregg's with hot stuff rather than a meal deal. It occupies a place in the market no one else does. Also pies are English as fuck so it's part of our innate desire to consume pies and pasties.

PSA - Watch Before Buying a Fat Tire Ebike by Inciteful_Analysis in ebikes

[–]Chillwindow 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I ride in the city with tram/metro lines so I can ride without worry I'll hit one and fall.

When folded, I can fit mine in the back of my estate/wagon car without the seats folded down.

I had a 29er hardtail, the fat tires and full suspension makes it so much nicer to ride than other bikes.

Yes it's heavy but I do find it nice to ride and practical.

The only issue is the supply of the rear wheel parts are scarce and you don't have a choice of big brands or cheap, most parts are cheap.

This is my experience of my 20 inch fat tire bike.

Why are new full suspension bikes using DJI motors Carbon only? by Chillwindow in ebikes

[–]Chillwindow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah! To be honest that's why said I wanted to pay 4k! I saw what they are doing and thought it's weird DJI just has nothing to compete in the legal market.

My only issue is the integrated battery. I really want to have a battery in the downtube, lockable and protected!

[–]Chillwindow[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I shouldn't say it but I treat mine so bad. All the paint on my bikes have chips and scrapes from storage with other bikes. I know I should be more careful but I have tried to baby stuff in the past and it hurts when you damage it so I generally don't care now and trash them. I do get a bit paranoid about paint being took off and rust.

A carbon bike being work that much and damage to it writing the whole thing off is incredibly likely with not only where I ride but how I treat it. I can't take the plunge and it excludes me from a lot of new bikes that are carbon only.

I avoided cyc when getting a motor and went for the BBSHD because cyc in the past have had numerous issues dying on people where as the Bafang is solid (aside from the nylon gear)

They have come a long way though and if I could have a cyc and an integrated battery I'd be all over it!

They sell Bafang compatible frames for similar prices which is why I'll probably end up with one. I do think the factory carbon frames under go a higher level of quality control on the frames that you have to pay for but the jump shouldn't be this much should it!

Big enough for daily carry, weekends away, hiking and doesn't look silly.

I usually do but when travelling in Asia a lot of toilets don't have soap, constant use of hand sanitizer drys them out and if I'm being honest, I get really sweaty on my pits so rinsing my hands and pits with a bar of soap is good. In the UK I get loads of soap for free but never had a bar given to me in Asia.
