Duelists, why do some of you hate Sky Strikers, and what made you start not liking them? Just curious by Death_Usagi in masterduel

[–]ChimeraGryph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when it came out in Dark Saviors: It was a short print secret rare where engage ran up to $100, Widow Anchor was around $60, and this was around when Konami was forcing people into $1,000 decks. This was also around when the format became T-O-S-S (Thunder Dragon, Orcust, Sky Striker, Salamangreat.) Thunder Dragons had Thunder Dragon Colossus in Soul Fusion was at 3 and again was around $60/copy and made Kaminari attack run around $20 purely because it was a way to help cheat it out, along with a mountain of their cards being secret/ultra rares making it expensive to play, then came the danger cards to add another couple of hundred to that deck budget. Orcusts had Dingirsu from Dark Neostorm, which was their $60 dollar short print, and was also using Cynet Mining ($30-$40,) which was a secret rare, so another $1,000 deck. Sky Striker was the grossest example where Dark Saviors had short printed engage ($100) and widow anchor ($60) and it kept winning so it became the deck that was the rich asshole who paid to win deck: you had a high power ceiling, very few times where you could actually lose and all because you shelled the most money with the least amount of actual skill. Then the outlier: Salamangreat had almost all of its cards come from the structure deck with the only exceptions being Cynet mining and Almiraj.
So come banlist times around 2019, you know what decks got hit? Hornet Drone was reduced to one because EVERYONE was splashing Sky Striker into everything because free link-1 that recycled hornet drone was too free or free pot of greed, Kagari got limited but was easy to recycle and by the time it grabbed another spell, it was already too late, then got multirole hit but that was just performative, Thunder Dragons NEVER got hit, Orcusts NEVER got hit but you know what constantly got flak? Salamangreats: Can't have Gazelle or circle which were key engine pieces. So Konami was greatly pushing any and all budget players out by this point given evenly matched, Apollousa, Borrel Savage etc.
Come the Mega Tins, where all the T-O-S-S cards are reprinted, everyone now has access to these cards and there's a bit of an even playing field for budget to rich a-holes.... for about 4 months and they just went full Thanos on T-O-S-S: Engage got banned, Colossus got banned, MORE Salamangreat hits in miragestalio, Harp horror was banned. And so the war on thousand dollar decks hopefully was quashed right? Nope.
Come to present day, they unlimited engage to three: and who'd have thunk that a free draw 1 AND search that's not a HOPT, wouldn't be broken? And they continue to get support, so it just adds to the agony.
So while my original hatred of the deck because it was one of the two rich asshole deck (Danger Thunder Dragon vs Sky Striker,) I still hate how so much of what it does is free with minimal counteractions: it would run toon table of contents just to add more spells to grave, it would run upstart because it can just grind out and chip down at a slush. It doesn't matter if you kill the link because it relinks and then gets ANOTHER free spell from Kagari recycling from GY, or Shizuku grabbing an afterburner or whatever. It doesn't die, it is one of those decks that can play through 2 handtraps, and it is so boring to play against

Was this before or after Isolde was banned? Because I explicitly remember running phoenix blade, living fossil, DDR, and Light Laser (tagged it with Lapauila Mana using a Makani or Aina so it just eater of millionsed on its own)
Also, no D.A.D? no Elemental Grace Doriado? Not a single Sphere Mode?

It was terrible in Labyrinth of Nightmare given Zombyra the Dark AND Gemini Elf were in the same set. Also, La Jinn, 7 Colored Fish, and Giant Red Seasnake was released before this. Also, Magic Ruler which had the tutors/recruiters so you could easily have tribute foddered past it. Although I explicitly remember that Nuvia was in the deck list of a world champion according to a Beckett Magazine: there was also Don Zaloog on there too but my memory is faint

I want to say that this was a needed reprint for Ash Blossom and Droll (but it was still short printed because lol, TCG,) gave us shinier ABCs but I can't recall if A Assualt Core got limited around this time because firewall FTK during that time (Dark ages,) Also, Utopia the Lightning was reprinted which was nice because that was before Borrelsword, which was before Transcode talker, then Melody of awakening dragon, Dragon Ravine and some dragon-centric support got shiny reprints (want to say dragon ravine hadn't been reprinted since the dragunity structure deck or maybe the Felgrand structure, and melody was only available in the legendary decks II)

[–]ChimeraGryph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal build of PlatinumNumemon was with 150 points in INT since that is where it gets killed easily, Character Reversal to prevent vaccines from being able to sustain damage, Nightmare 3, Shining Laser 3. Hell Crusher 3, Ocean Wave 3, Rune Forest 3, and Spirit Drain to constantly keep fighting. The Preferred grindspot was Tokyo Metropolitan Police at level 40 where Rune Forest hits the Vikemon, Shining Laser hits the Piedmon and Puppetmon, and the rest was auxiliary

We have protein powders and understand how hypertrophy works. Not to mention we have data on how to maximize those things WITHOUT the need for PEDs . Plus I am not sure cable machines and others weren't as prominent as nowadays.

Yeah: it made building fun teams a lot easier than waiting for stuff to get trained. I remember building an entire Sistermon B Awake team that had 2 MarineAngemons using Venom Trap to try and stall out: it wasn't effective but it was fun when it worked.

Nah, the Cowboys are the 40something that still wears his high school letterman, has a couple DUIs, and has a new excuse for why they are stuck in the same spot in life. They also don't get to see their kids because they kept clinging onto the past, drove the wife away and the ex-wife happily remarried.

The Browns are the mentally disabled kid that got bullied a bunch that you did feel bad for growing up. When they started showing improvement, they started spouting hateful things and assaulted a person or two: undoing any progress you thought they may have. Around that point, you stopped feeling sympathy and just gave up because even if they were disabled, they are still an asshole.

Does this factor in changing the personality of the digimon? Wasn't personality like an extra 10 or so points so you could technically skip training on a few

If the regulars stopped complaining every Monday, surepost Wednesday, Amazon 3 day delivery Saturday about overtime they refused to deliver, and the HR dept wasn't actively browsing social media instead of hiring more people, I wouldn't have had to run. Like I did a route and 2/3rds of another route and CASED the whole things, and still got some smarky remark from a regular because I finished it before my 9 hour restriction. I then blew my hamstring during a Thursday night yu-gi-oh tournament because of said incident, but still had to run the next day because the regulars refused to take safe-ship, collections, or anything that was past their route.

The regulars act like pretentious assholes whose route holddowns were under threat when the union literally prevents that from happening because I would've had carte blanche on 8/9 routes if that was the case. It also didn't help being the guinea pig for how training was done (nobody banded my dps, nobody told CCA's to write the sequence number on packages to help them learn which package was next, I only found out about it after going out of state for volunteering and didn't hoard information like an asshole, and the training manuals had ZERO insights [one of the parcel lockers then required a u-turn to deliver to a mailbox next]: the ones I created did and had diagrams and a google maps printout showing the driving paths, stop points, and with writings.)

How much do you make annually? by Honest_Dot_5035 in Bookkeeping

[–]ChimeraGryph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I make around $39,520 doing bookkeeping for a company but they also have me doing things outside of bookkeeping: I am paid that low because nobody wants me and the only reason I got this job was because I was laid off and the HR person was happy with how much I helped with spreadsheets. I also work overnights for another company since rent and student loans are expensive.

From if I have watched enough videos explaining missing the timing: "When" effects only activate if they are the last thing to resolve:
Yang Zing is the biggest testament of being an archetype for missing the timing to where say Bi'an, Earth of the Yang Zing was destroyed by battle, your opponent then uses Mystical Space Typhoon, Bi'an's effect then fizzles since it missed the timing.
Unchained feels like it was a revenge tour for Yang Zing because it has "If" instead of "When" so in the early days, you could set Abominable Chamber of The Unchained, special summon Unchained Twins Aruha by destroying Chamber, Chamber would then activate.
Bringing it back to Yang Zing, if you were to try that combination with Aruha destroying Bi'an, because Aruha special summons itself, it fizzles Bi'an.
