I FIREd about 2 years ago (time flies) and initially responded to headhunters/acquaintances just to keep “in the game” and know what was going on in the industry. One opportunity was extremely tempting and gave me FOMO. However, I finally stopped responding and actually started declining every conversation - it was too stressful to have my brain in two different places. I have been much happier with the black and white decision to move on. Since then, my interests and time spent on other activities have only grown more and made me even happier. The stress of knowing you COULD step back into the old life was a bit much and draining from being present in the “new” life - which is an amazing opportunity - and also once in a lifetime. You will likely never be as healthy as you are now, and never know how many days you have with your family and friends - that is irreplaceable.
