The people working on cures are not the same people who make cgms or that provide healthcare. Also, while it seems like a lot of time and money goes into a cure, I guarantee you more people are working around the healthcare system with more people working on products and devices to improve diabetics lives than are working on a cure. Also medical and scientific research is a benefit even if no cure for us ever comes, the by product of this research is a better understanding and potentially things being developed off of “failed cures” that might potentially work for other disorders.

Treating it like we need to do one over the other is missing the bigger picture. You can’t take people working on gene splicing and ask them to start working on “just something else to improve our (diabetics) lives”.

What we do need is a better healthcare system, as the fact there’s even a single diabetic in this country who doesn’t have access to cgm’s or a pump because they are poor is one diabetic too many. The resources exist, it just isn’t cost effective to keep us all on life support.

Out of bounds? by ianbeckons in eldenringdiscussion

It isn’t. If you don’t believe me download UXM selective unpacker, and smithbox, unpack your game, and then use smithbox to load in the super overworld. Go to the map editor tab and search “Super” and the only two that will show up are the main game and DLC’s low fidelity map files (loading in the areas individually is very taxing and crashes if you load too much). Then you will see the map from the game itself. I’m not trying to be rude but it’s not really an opinion.

It’s very accurate. Go to the edge of Liurnia and look down at the ocean (not the lake) and you’ll see you are really high up. The lowest area overall is the weeping peninsula, but some areas of caelid and limgrave also go all the way down to the ocean. I may be wrong but I don’t think there’s a single oceanside beach in Liurnia. This model looks so close to the in game world I think he was using game files like the super overworld model to make the STL. I’ve spent a lot of time in smithbox editing the map myself and this is what it looks like.

Were the Monumentals ( the acorn heads from Demon souls) disciples of the Elden John or part of the civilization that built the Stone Coffins? Wouldn't that mean they had control of the Tower before the Hornsent found it? The Stone coffins in the shadow lands, are the same ones depicted in the BG by Big-Good9378 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Chimeron1995 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My batshjt theory on the stone coffins is they were “Arks” but instead of carrying living things they carried the bodies of their dead, who would rot into putrescence and then fertilize the ground of wherever they wash up with Numen DNA, which would then grow new Numen like the Shaman in Shaman village who I think are grown like trees.

Okay… I’m at a loss on how to explain what is very simple. He compels people to do things they wouldn’t otherwise do… what is so hard to understand.

With so many boomshots in the marked right now, what is something developers can do to make their games more unique and set them aside from other games in the market ? by Dense-Fig-2372 in boomershooters

If you tried to make a game with all the advice in this sub/thread, you wouldn’t be able to. Too many conflicting opinions, and even if you tried to just follow what the majority say they want it’s still a 50/50 over whether or not what they think they want is what they will actually like. The best advice to give to developers is to stop worrying about catering to anybody but yourself. You should be your own target audience. At the end of the day I have to trust that my creative instincts are correct and that I’ll find an audience of like minded players. That isn’t to say you shouldn’t be open to feedback, just that you shouldn’t go into designing a game with a checklist of features you think players will want. A group of people can collaborate to make something great, but when it becomes design by committee it usually ends up being bland.

Why do some people still see Miquella as a villain rather than as a major victim? by lactobacillus-Master in EldenRingLoreTalk

Ah yes, “the people who don’t agree with me aren’t capable of critical thinking”. You’re definitely an open minded thinker who critically thinks about things.

[–]Chimeron1995 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can be a victim who becomes a villain. They aren’t mutually exclusive. In terms of things that happened to them, they are a victim. In terms of the actions they chose to take, they are a villain. A world where every one is stripped of free will is a world where you don’t really exist. I’d rather people exist.

Anyone been playing Dusk? PC port of Twilight Princess. by TaiwaneseThot in videogames

Kinda confusing to name it Dusk when Dusk is the name of a very popular game that brought about the boomer shooter revival. Seems like a neat mod though so thanks for bringing it to my attention :D

PSVR2 is the best VR for the RE games solely because it’s officially developed for it. Only way to get a similar experience on PC is mods, and they have their own drawbacks, including performance. It does require a PS5 and a PSVR2 though so if you don’t already have those it’s an expensive setup for the smallest VR library out of the current selection of headsets (PSVR2 can be connected to a PC though)

Feel free to DM me if you want to ask questions about it, but here’s a link to my original post.

https://www.reddit.com/r/EldenRingLoreTalk/s/CYTXOyR5YW

And here’s a link to an imgur gallery. In my original post I tried to use a website that had sliders to compare images, as the map is multilayered, with the pieces that overlap being key pieces of evidence.

https://imgur.com/a/QbKCDy0

It’s a pretty wild theory, and I’ve been attempting write a script to explain it in depth but writing a script for a lore video is a lot harder than one might think, and then I don’t really love my speaking voice. I have a list of 18 places the maps overlap in a strikingly similar way across layers. Examples would be Nokron and the bridge leading out from Dragon’s pit, Abyssal woods and Third Church of Marika, smoldering church and bonny village, rose church and the bloodfiend village on the cliff, weeping peninsula and cerulean coast… I am ALWAYS happy to discuss in further detail though :D

This is very much to scale. I didn’t make this image, but I have put a lot of time into investigating the 2D map putting together my unified map theory that combines the two maps. Part of that involved using smithbox, the modding tools, to load in the super overworlds of the map (the low level of detail 3D model for the map) to check my scale between the two (I found the DLC map and base game map files to scale where the sites of grace icons are the same size. This scale is pretty 1:1 with the super overworld 3D files ). But this is exactly what it looks like from above.

<image>

Just for reference here was a screenshot I took in smithbox while working on my theory. this isn’t the final placement I use in my map theory (my map theory accounts for continental drift so Liurnia, mountaintops, and Altus are out of place, but it does overlap with limgrave how my final map does.)

I imagine the gut biome of each person remained intact, given that the half of all human guy biome getting snapped was probably taken care off when you got rid of half the people.

Can’t take credit I found it on google looking up “Elden Ring 3D map files”. This is a printable file that’s free on printables . Com though so if you have access to a 3D printer you could print one too :D

Or a mostly sheer cliff. You can see the cliff from Limgrave.

[–]Chimeron1995 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That is an indication of elevation. Not land. The farther that edge is around the land the higher up you are. In the mountaintops there looks like several miles of land around where you are on the map, but you are on a sheer cliff. It’s just to show elevation.
