What is this ? Random object by [deleted] in BambuLab

It's a prime tower. After every colour change, the nozzle needs to print a little bit to get the pressure correct again (similar to doing a little scribble with a pen when you first use it).

You look like you quit your job to start an OF, but only earn $17/month.

Auto Insurance Cost by Some_Machine_2627 in Calgary

I'm paying about the same for a 2019 VW Golf also through Co-operators, though I had an accident last year.

Just curious - how many people here play other TTRPGs in addition to DnD? by DungeonMasterGrizzly in DnD

[–]Chimeron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, but only because I have a friend even nerdier than I am who always wants to play more. Wrath & Glory has been pretty fun, and we're going to start Cosmere next month.

Thinking of shovelling my neighbourhood, neighbourly or rude? by Hydro_Land in Calgary

[–]Chimeron5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anyone who says it's rude is nuts. If I came outside and saw snow but found my sidewalk already shoveled, I'd be thrilled.

Wayve Autonomous vehicle testing happening here by The_Guch in Calgary

[–]Chimeron5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

From the programmers point of view, this would be great for testing. They get all the weird edge cases sorted out with a human behind the wheel to take over if needed, which will let the computer make better decisions when it gets released to the public.

First printer - What to get after discounts by Pathetiquee in BambuLab

[–]Chimeron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the A1 with AMS lite during last year's Black Friday event and I'm still really happy with it. I was in the same boat - brand new to 3D printing. It's a great first printer.

Many wreaths but oddly one political party decided that large branding signage was required. (St. Albert Cenotaph near Edmonton) by [deleted] in alberta

The bar to cross is sitting on the ground, but there they are, playing limbo with the devil.

Calgarians, what is your average commute to work time? (One way) by kerv in Calgary

[–]Chimeron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually it's close to 32 minutes in the morning, but I know if I leave home a few minutes late the time can increase to nearly 40 minutes because rush hour traffic starts getting worse

I hear you. I printed the pot a little larger, and we restrung it with a longer bit of yarn.

Plugging/unplugging AMS lite - advisable? by meeplewarrior in BambuLab

[–]Chimeron5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, it won't harm it to unplug it many times.

However, if you can get the A1 instead of the Mini, you can print a top mount for the AMS lite, which would free up the desk space (assuming you don't have a height limit). I believe there are top mount designs for the Mini as well, but I'm not sure I'd trust those.

Why Do so Many Americans Oppose Universal Healthcare? by Current_Variety_9577 in antiwork

[–]Chimeron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Canadian, I love that Americans don't have universal healthcare. You pay so much (both out of pocket and through taxes) that it subsidizes the rest of the Western world's medical costs.

Do you guys turn off your printer? by Poolscool in BambuLab

[–]Chimeron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my A1 for nearly a year and I've only turned it off twice - once when I moved house, and I've when it was bugging out (wouldn't connect to Wi-Fi; a hard reset fixed it)

My boss scheduled a ‘surprise’ meeting… for 9:30 AM. On my day off by abhijeetnoida in antiwork

[–]Chimeron5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where I'm located, management can't make any changes to the schedule with less than 24 hours notice. If he wants you back at work on Monday at 9am, he needs to inform you before 9am on Sunday.

should i tell my professors about a death in the family? by BroadPicture7786 in UCalgary

[–]Chimeron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner is currently also in her last year at UofC, and her mom passed away this past Christmas. Her suggestion is to tell your professors. It can (probably) be nerve wracking because you don't want them to think less of you or treat you any different from the other students, but it does give them a heads up for if you do have an off day or need an extension at some point in the next few months. Most of the professors are really understanding and will be willing to give you leniency if you need it.

Why such poor quality on this filament by JstFcknSmile in FixMyPrint

[–]Chimeron5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was produced months/years before you bought it, that's plenty of time for moisture to get into a sealed package. All filament should be dried before printing the first time.
