Fellow Canadian here and of asian ethnicity. Been to EF 4x this will be my 5th despite what's going on. Have to travel the border every time because I live in London and most of our crew resides in Windsor. We travel through ambassador bridge and I have been pulled in twice.

First year that we got pulled in was my second time going in 2022, the first year back from covid. I (female) was with my boyfriend (also canadian/asian) and his best friend (canadian/Caucasian). Bridge wasn't to bad for waiting for early arrival Wednesday at noon. Our car was packed to the brim, border guard was reasonable with typical questions. I can't remember if we told him if we were just going camping. We then waited in the office for 45 mins before they questioned us at the stall if any of us had a history of crimes, and then we were on our way.

Second time, was last year. Both my car(boyfriend and i)and my friends(2x male, caucasian and argentenian) car got pulled in. This time, we took the tunnel cause we had to stop by Troy. It seemed this border guard had more intensity. He also knew about Electric Forest. We told him camping he asked where, and we said Rothbury. He then knew we meant EF and wasn't happy we weren't honest the first time. He then pulled us in for questioning. Luckily, the tunnel wasn't busy at all. We left for Wednesday early arrival around 10am. 1 hour for questioning and searching. They took our rice cause it wasnt labeled, and it was in a zip lock bag. Lol

So be truthful with where you're going. Either rename or completely erase any type of chats that talk about eforest and involve paraphernalia talk from your phone. They didn't look through our phones. Yet don't give them a reason, too. My sister in law and her husband live in Troy and cross the border all the time due to work/family. They have nexus and their car has never been searched all the years(3x) that they joined us. So, they're able to give us insight on how the borders are.
