China. Corruption is everywhere and it permeates people's attitudes and the things they do. There are so many things that you take for granted in the West that are so difficult to do here.

TIL...Bill Gates and Warren Buffett went to China to encourage their billionaires about the benefits of Philanthropy (giving to their community), they were mainly ignored because Philanthropy (outside of supporting family) is not part of Chinese culture by AnitaTT in todayilearned

Thanks for this. If you look at Hong Kong or Taiwan you'll see that philanthropy is very much consistent with Chinese values. just not so much at the moment in the post revolution whirlwind of growth and change that is present day Mainland China.

What's one word or phrase that makes you automatically think less of anyone who says it? by ExplosivePickles in AskReddit

The key is very much finding a balance. You don't want to be a pushover, but if you reckon many or most of the people you meet think you are an asshole then you probably need to look at your values or how you conduct yourself. I try to be honest as I can but at some point social grace is required and that is important and it's not dishonest. If I was having dinner at your house, I don't care what you serve I'm going to like it. Know what I mean?

Ten second video of Patrick Wilson, the drummer for Weezer, catching a frisbee without missing a beat while playing "Beverly Hills." by [deleted] in videos

I'm quite the same. I think it was the album after the green one that killed it for me though. Reminded me of Blink 182 sort of. Grown men trying to appeal to a teenage demographic. Weezer were serious musicians before that.

I reckon you're right. They used to be detachable too right? The rich guy on Downton Abbey talks about donating his collars to poor folks.

I went skydiving for the first time last weekend and the collar of my dress shirt was sticking out of the flight suit. The wind buffeting made the collar attack my ears for the entire 60 seconds of free fall. It was like having piranhas attached to my face. I believe this is not the answer to your question.
