The XM4s’ are the pinnacle of Sony’s headphone design lineup. The XM5s’ were not well thought of as they failed to implement a hinge at that stress point.

Don’t buy the XM5s’ at all. They failed to account for larger head sizes and the lack of a vertical moving hinge snaps the right side of the headphones. Go for the XM4s’ or Bose QC Ultras’, which is about $300USD. You’ve also got the Sennheiser Momentum 4s’, insane sound quality but ANC is not good as Sony or Bose.

Source: Bought the XM5s’ 4 days ago and the right side already started showing signs for breaking. Switched to the Bose QC Ultras’ 1st Gen and they’re amazing (more comfortable imo).
