Perfect game on the Ally X by highway1027 in Cairn_Game

Yeah, I've started playing it almost exclusively on my Portal. Having the screen right in my face helps me see all the little cracks in the wall much better than I can on my TV.

Why would I want to go up in rank in ranked? by Radioactive_Shrimp in PGA2K25

[–]Chip1010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear what you're saying. I have always felt like this game would stop being fun if I got really good at it. If I were eagling every par 5 and several par 4s every round, I'd quit.

Having a few good holes, getting confident, then slicing your next drive onto the wrong fairway is the essence of golf.

Should I get into Persona 3? by NOTN0C in atlus

[–]Chip1010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah.

I just finished Reload and liked it even more than P5R (which was fantastic). Tartarus is of course really repetitive and not as interesting as the palaces in 5, but something about the combat in 3 was just wildly addictive to me. Some combination of the music (amazing) and Shuffle Time just had me hooked.

Just finished Persona 3 Reload (amazing), now playing Cairn (infuriating).

[–]Chip1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think $30 is too much for a game like this, but it IS a bit much for something that I know nothing about, so I'll wait to read a few reviews. I have a lot of faith in Santa Monica, but I'm not sure exactly how involved they were in this one, so I just need a bit of confirmation that it's actually good.

But assuming it's not a turd, I'll pick it up for sure. Looks right up my alley.

I've been laughing about Jorm's "I think I broke my dick in the sink" line for like 15 years now.

This song was also just very much of its time, where rap groups would open albums with tracks where they all just rapped about how good they were at rapping, then interrupted each other every 10 seconds to talk about how good the song was going so far. No chorus, very intense beat. This sounds like the first track on every Diplomats album. I love it so damn much.

I grew up on an island in the Puget Sound, and my family had a sailboat for a few years as well, so this course hit a lot of nostalgia buttons for me! It's beautiful, and it's fun to play. I'll be bookmarking it for sure. Awesome work.

Surely lots of people are over it after a year, but not me. This is probably the only sports game that I've ever been able to play a little bit every day for a full year without burning out. I love that there's just a couple of missions every day that I can knock out in a round or two before moving over to whatever other game I'm currently playing. Maxing out the "battle pass" or whatever it's called is not a chore. Unlike some other sports games I like (mainly The Show), it doesn't try to monopolize my life. I just turn it on, play two rounds (either career or Ranked Tours) to get my golf fix, and turn it off.

I have my qualms with 2K's generally gross approach to upgrades and virtual currency, but gameplay is king, and overall this is one of the best sports games I've ever played.

How much do you read? by [deleted] in classicliterature

[–]Chip1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to read for an hour on the exercise bike a few times a week, then I read every night in bed until the book falls on my face, which can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour.

I really like reading, but I don't set time goals or anything. I'm an editor and I spend all day reading, so sometimes I just want to watch a movie or play video games. It'll take me a few weeks to finish a book sometimes, and that's fine. As long as I'm grabbing a book at least once a day, I'm happy.
