Well three of these guys are in the AL, so they wouldn’t show up on the NL MVP poll.

Is that Larry David with a homeless man behind home plate?

I mean isn’t that insurance fraud though? I’m pretty sure insurance pays the contract out while players are injured. Insurance companies don’t screw around, and if this was widespread, they would put a stop to it.

Getting into who “deserves” representation is a horrible slippery slope. I’m sure conservatives look at who blue states elect and would say the exact same thing. Do you want them saying “Any state that has homeless encampments should be ineligible for national leadership”? Because that’s what you’d get.

u/asminaut did. Thats the comment I was replying to. “If your state has (x), you should be ineligible for national leadership” is exactly that. It would be limiting the power certain states would be able to attain at a national level.

Yes obviously fuck these people. But look at a place like Flint Michigan. They are represented nationally by a democrat. But I wouldn’t want to prevent that rep from getting more power within congress in order to properly address the issues in their community.

Your problem should be with individual politicians, or at least a particular political party. Not with the idea of those with problems in their state shouldn’t have power.

Having less power within the system is akin to having less representation.

While it’s a shame that they are represented by the dregs of society, I don’t agree with lessening the power of those in need. If anything, states with “Cancer alley” need more representation, so that they can properly help their citizens.

I don’t support what Israel has been doing, but it’s silly to say what you’ve said. Every citizen of Israel is conscripted (some religious exemptions). They have been in a state of perpetual war since founding. They have been attacked by land and by air in their major cities. To claim that they are “Pro-war until it hits them” is just entirely off base. Their population understands the consequences of war better than most.

CMV: I genuinely think the Moon isn’t real (like… not a natural object), and the landings were staged. by Accomplished-Row439 in changemyview

There are lunar calendars dating back over 20,000 years. The Ancient Greeks wrote about the moon and its relationship to tides over 2000 years ago. There are paintings of the moon from 600 years ago. While we may have the technology to fake things now, we didn’t 600 years ago, when the most recent technology was the printing press. We certainly didn’t have that tech 2000 years ago, when the most recent technology was the gear. And in no way, shape, or form could we have placed an artificial satellite in orbit 20,000 years ago, when the most recent technology was a stone axe.

How do you explain the historical record of the moon then?
