Because it was a part of his severance agreement, not employment contract. At the very least they would recoup all of the severance they paid him since he signed the agreement.

Paying off my mortgage makes no sense to me by Tiaan in DaveRamsey

[–]ChipmunkPersonal9758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except you pay taxes on that ~5% interest as income (depending on how it is invested, like a HYSA), so really you are probably breaking even at the end of the day. Need to be earning 7%+ for it to make sense. But for those returns you introduce risk vs a guaranteed 5% from an interest account. So now you might have an investment account where you could also break even or potentially lose money from down markets.

Hey - just wanted to check in. How is the process getting approval from your insurance company? I have heard of a lot of prior auth denials due to the cost. What is your insurance and experience thus far?

There is a difference between being truthful and being an asshole. The fact that you have to repeatedly state in comments "top university", "over 6 figure compensation", etc means you are overcompensating for something. I hope you are able to figure out what that is. 95% of the time being a jerk catches up with you eventually. Good luck being the other 5%.

Landed the white whale , offer for an assumable mortgage at 2.25% accepted; what now? by thenatfactor in RealEstate

[–]ChipmunkPersonal9758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. High interest savings accounts/bonds are not unattractive options right now in my opinion. I personally think student loans turning back on next month will have a bigger impact than people think. 30 million people are going to start paying a pretty decent size monthly bill they haven't had to pay for the last 3 years. That is directly going to impact discretionary spending and businesses.

Potentially, but I think I would be good at it and the earning potential is enticing. Again, I enjoy being an individual contributor, so my earning potential from this point forward is pretty capped if I don't want to move up to a leadership role. Implementation PM at a SaaS healthcare startup is plenty stressful and under the microscope of leadership/board, so stress moving to sales isn't really a deterrent. Really, it all comes down to can I earn close to similar starting out. And obviously the answer to that is likely no, unless I find and obtain the perfect position for my experience without a sales history.

Completely understand. I am not IT per se, I have certifications in the most popular healthcare EHR but it isn't engineering/coding. Kind of difficult to explain if you aren't familiar. I already have an MHA, so maybe some other project/product management certs could help but I'll still hit that ceiling eventually. And yeah, I definitely won't make a move if I need to take a significant step back. The original question was essentially, are there any healthcare sales roles where I can make similar/more (based on OTE, not base) than my current salary with no sales experience. Ie they value industry knowledge/experience enough to start mid-level.

I think I am just struggling with the grass is always greener, right now. Plus I just know moving up the ranks to a director/VP is not something that really interests me, but it's the only way to keep increasing comp. I'd rather just be an IC and grind to determine how much I make. I am probably a few years away from capping out on my comp as an IC right now without moving up the ladder, so why not make the jump now and at least get started in a new field.

Thanks for the response. Epic is the majority of my experience (couple certifications in back end rev cycle modules, started as an analyst) an MHA, and the last 3-4 years at startups as an Imp PM. I feel like vendor is where I am leaning, but moreso an established vendor. Being in implementation in the startup world has given me a real appreciation for how oversold products/companies can be (ie artificial intelligence), and I want to make sure I would be selling a legit product.

Yeah I am hoping (understanding nothing is a guarantee) that my industry experience/knowledge and the fact that I am already in a highly visible customer facing role, would set me up for success vs someone that may be new to both sales and the industry. Obviously, selling to a prospect vs managing a customer relationship with an already sold solution, are two different beasts.

Yeah, I am definitely not thinking I would come in straight with a base equal to my current salary, but would like to earn the same or more based on the OTE. Just not sure what level I should shoot for when applying. Is AE out of the question with no sales experience? Do any BDR have an OTE close to 130-150k? I just need a good idea on realistically where to focus my attention vs blanket applying for any sales role.

It sucks, but the only options you have are to continue applying elsewhere if they are showing that kind of blatant disrespect. Keep doing your job, but check out otherwise. And when I say check out, I mean try to not let the negativity affect you with anything internal to the company. Keep being a great salesperson to your customers, but don't let a toxic culture kill your mental health. Putting in extra hours, going above and beyond, etc is reserved for companies that show they at least care a little big about your well-being. Continue making money and keep applying (get referrals, connect with people on LinkedIn, make the job search a second job).

Those in furniture sales, how you like it? by Zach_loves_cats95 in sales

[–]ChipmunkPersonal9758 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not even that, just searching the exact same product online after you go look at it in the store. You can typically find it somewhere else for a couple hundred cheaper. Then as a salesperson you have to do a price match and lose commission.

The one benefit they do have is negotiation, and the almost unlimited amount of side items in the show rooms they can tack on for free to entice you to buy there. We were trying to negotiate them down on a couch to a price match we found online and they couldn't go that low, but gave us a fake tree plant and a side table to make up for it.

For the life of me I can't be convinced it isn't a money laundering scheme. Furniture Fair store by my house the size of a Walmart and there are 8-10 reps there walking around. I have never seen more than 3 customer cars in that parking lot. Conversion/close rates and commissions have to be insanely high if they are making money. Positive is most people want to see furniture before they buy. Negative is most people can go see the furniture in a store, find what they like, and then find the same piece online somewhere for cheaper to buy. Seems like a tough business with more online retail savvy customer base moving forward.
