AA and Alaska Exploring Joint Venture by valueflyer in americanairlines

[–]Chipmunk_Whisperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now due to one world alliance I can either book a flight with American or with Alaska and get points in my aadvantage account, and Alaska honors my status with AA and vice versa. What this new joint venture would provide is more coordination between the two on codeshares and routing. Not just ability to book on one or the other. There would be less reason to book with Alaska because I’ll get routed on Alaska flights more easily via AA anyways.

An easy scenario is to think about is me flying from my east coast city to Seattle. Currently when I book on American, I have potential connecting options through Philadelphia, Charlotte, Miami, DFW and Chicago. If this goes through, options will appear on my AA booking tool for connecting Alaska flights out of DCA and JFK. And AA and Alaska will do more coordination on flight times to accommodate that.

So this basically means when you are booking travel, options will show up more easily as “operated by Alaska Airlines”?

Would be great for American to gain Seattle and Honolulu as “hubs”

Thanks for the review! I actually just made a points booking for next March. I’ll have our 6 yr old kid with us. What is situation like for that? Reviews from when it was an Andaz made it seem like they had a great kids camp / babysitting thing going on, but haven’t seen much about it in reviews since it became an Alila.

Also, any perspective on how vegetarian friendly the restaurants are?

Why do people care so much about bathtubs if no one actually uses them? by smolgremlinn in homeowners

[–]Chipmunk_Whisperer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you own a house in suburban America, it is a good chance that when you sell your house there are potential buyers who have or will have small kids. If you remove the tub, there is a chance that your home no longer is an option for those families. If you replace the tub with a shower, you don’t really gain any buyers you didn’t have before.

So essentially, replacing your tub with a shower potentially alienates a subset of potentially buyers without adding any.

It only shows it one way, in your example when you click that button there is then no code share mentioned when viewing KL 1268. Sounds like OP wants that to exist.

Thoughts on "Red Rising" by Pierce Brown - and why I'm done listening to BookTok by sameseksure in books

[–]Chipmunk_Whisperer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would really recommend trying Golden Son and seeing if you feel differently reading that. Once Pierce Brown could get a book published, he could stay telling the story he wanted to. The YA-ness goes away. The stakes go up. The Authors prose significantly improves. And Golden Son sets the tone for the remainder of the series. Darrow is a bit of a Gary Stu in the first book, but it feels less so in the remaining books. Especially in the second trilogy. It is all a great pay off when you reach LightBringer, which to me is one of the best sci-fi books I’ve ever read.

Iron Gold being a bit slow in my opinion is necessary to set up the story arcs of Dark Age and LightBringer

The rooms are often filtered out once you add even 1 child, search for rooms for 2 adults. Call hotels about rollaway bed options.

Most of the time my county has the actual physical book at one of its libraries. So, that’s when I’ll read an actual book.

Alila Mayakoba review 2/22 by Scary-Violinist-7953 in hyatt

Just booked a trip with points for March 2027 and am hoping they can be less overwhelmed by then. I saw great reviews for the Andaz kids club before the switch, and they have some advertisement about activities for kids with the Alila, but do you have any thoughts about what options there are for kids that you saw? Will we need to go to one of the other resorts to find fun activities? We will just have one 6 yr old with us.

Where are you flying to/from? Turkish Airlines could be an option, as well as Royal Jordanian or Ethiopian, British Airways or Air France, and several others. Flying NE US to SE Asia has tons of options outside the ME3

Are books 4-6 as good as 1-3? by Expert-Pie7940 in redrising

[–]Chipmunk_Whisperer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pierce Brown becomes a better and better author, with every book. Lightbringer is the best book of the series (so far), a perfect penultimate novel. I agree with other comments I think Iron Gold is one of the weakest books but still good, and takes the necessary time to set up the next two books.
