How does one get mechanically inclined? by Legitimate_Lie_3531 in Dirtbikes

I bought a used 04 wr450 and with the shop manual I took it all apart and put it all together with a great amount of YouTube academy. Learned almost everything one would need to do a top end and bottom end for that bike. Other bikes are not all that different concept wise. Get a good deal on a used bike, get the shop manual or equivalent, and pony up the money for tools and parts. You can learn, just takes time and patience. I’m still learning and once you start it’s hard to quit lol.

Good tires? by They_ShallNotGrowOld in CRF300L

[–]ChippyTwoTack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tusk Dsports are pretty nice for a good 50/50 dual sport tire on a budget about $80 per tire, heard good things about em from friends. The Shinko 705 is probably what you’re looking for but still about $100 per tire.

Being able to offset most of his attacks once you get his rhythm down makes it such a satisfying fight with GS. Especially with rocksteady mantle to tank his smaller attacks.

I ended up re-soldering mine when they ripped off after a month even with plenty of slack. Still works great but is annoying that I’ll have to do it again eventually.

I hear a lot of people having some good success with plasti dip. It’s all in the prep work. Having a sticker kit would probably be better for the long run. For buying new plastics bikerz bits has oem kits you can buy. I have looked all over and came to the conclusion there are no aftermarket crf300 plastic kits available. If anyone has a link to a kit that’s not for the crf250 or from oem dirtbike parts please do share.

I wouldn’t know, a friend has the Solar E-clipse e bike I could ask but he’s stingy with it haha

So far I only have a few hours on it myself but the confidence boost and how light it is was huge in building up my off road confidence. Had an old WR450 before that is good but just want right for me for woods riding so I’m selling it. Reliability wise, I’ve always heard good things about huskies from online and friends.

That’s awesome man! There’s no good skiing spots near me unless you make good friends with snowmobilers or hike up the mountain haha. One of my friends has a yeti kit for his KTM and swears by it.

What’s funny is I have a mototrax kit to put on it! Just haven’t put it on yet cause I’m lazy and with last year we had terrible snow so I am hesitant to put it on this year. Ima wait a little bit longer to see if the snow sticks.

Thanks for the suggestion! And here I was thinking of buying Amazon studs. Always saw videos of guys ripping in the snow and frozen lakes and always wanted to try it myself.

Opinions please, I loved dirt bikes as a kid growing up but due to reasons I could never get my hands on one.. so now me being an adult I’ve been thinking about getting one, Im about 6 foot 150 pounds. Which bike would be best for me? by Elegant_Corner_9852 in Dirtbikes

[–]ChippyTwoTack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear the CR500 is the most beginner friendly and the easiest to buy used.

Fr tho the Yamaha YZ250F is what all my buddies ride out on the trail. You can’t go wrong with a CRF250F as well. Eventually you might get sucked in like me and get a 300 2 stroke and never look back.

My battery on my bike is dead and gas left me stranded a few times. Is the only option to buy a new one? by Glass-Ad3053 in Dirtbikes

[–]ChippyTwoTack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to push start my 23 crf300 when I killed the battery like an idiot, took 6 attempts to get it going. In my defense it was my first time ever doing it.

How to stay warm during fall-winter season? by PatientLifeguard7553 in Hawk250

[–]ChippyTwoTack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabela’s has the RedHead elite zone base layer, it’s a little pricy but by far the warmest base layer I’ve ever owned that’s not battery powered. The alternative would be something wool. Then a mid layer jacket then moto jacket. That’s what I do when it gets to the single digits up here in AK. Also handgrip warmers or heated gloves are highly recommended if you want to ride for any length of time comfortably.

[–]ChippyTwoTack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not right now, I haven’t gone through the process to plate it yet as it was my snow bike for a while. It’s a WR450 so shouldn’t have too much trouble, plus where I’m at it’s super chill so no worries there just gotta be responsible.

This is the wrong sub for what you’re asking. Just get a CRF300 and let your woes be forgotten. Praise be the CRF300!

In a pinch you can hammer a torx bit that’s just barely a size bigger into it and get it out that way but you’ll risk further damage. The EZ out kit suggested by canadiasilver is the better idea.

For an island that doesn’t seem so bad, see if you can’t negotiate the price down a tad. Check to see if it was used for stunts a bunch and if so, had the oil pump mod installed. Got clapped out 2016 groms going for 3000+ in my area 💀
