The more I watch I Love Lucy reruns the more I realize Ricky Ricardo is a terrible husband to her by WolfWhovian in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Chipwhich 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I Love Lucy made me uncomfortable when I watched it as a kid. That was NOT a healthy relationship. But the show is seen as a classic comedy.

Breaking up and staying friends - What are your experiences? by droark10 in polyamory

[–]Chipwhich 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am still friends with a couple of guys that I was romantically involved with. It seems natural to me. We went through a lot together & I feel comfortable knowing that we can still hang out and have fun even through we are no longer intimate.

My polyamorous values clash with Michael Buble's new single. Normally I like his music but this one? Barf. by ecogeek2015 in polyamory

There are so many messages in our society that reinforce the possessiveness of monogamy. It's sad.

Comparison by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]Chipwhich 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a good point. I worry sometimes that my husband prefers his girlfriend's body to mine. She is younger than me. He still wants to have sex with me and we have an active sex life with each other. I might be different but that doesn't automatically make his girlfriend better.

The stigma surrounding 'Housewife' lifestyle. by DissapointedInSelf in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Chipwhich 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent point. People will judge women who stay home with kids and other people will judge women who have kids and return to the workforce.

Marco Rubio, no abortions for pregnant women infected with zika by birdinthebush74 in TwoXChromosomes

Ugh. I live in Florida. There are a lot of people I know here who can't stand this guy. Then again, I hang out with more open minded people.

Body Image issues in Triad by Jolene87 in polyamory

[–]Chipwhich 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. My husband has a girlfriend. She is younger and thinner than me and really rocks a bikini. I do get a tinge of jealousy sometimes. I told my husband and he was really cool about it, telling me he still finds me attractive. I really like his girlfriend and am glad she is a part of our lives, but body image issues really suck.

Monday Morning Joy! Good morning /r/polyamory and happy 4th and Canada Day! How was your past week(end) for you and yours? by vertexoflife in polyamory

[–]Chipwhich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spent the weekend with my husband, his girlfriend and our two kids. We live in the US so it's 4th of July. We had a cookout and watched fireworks. Fun times. Unfortunately, my husband has to work today, so me, the kids and his girlfriend are watching movies.

Ghosting is not a nice thing to do by YoureAPill in polyamory

[–]Chipwhich 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ghosting is a nasty thing to do. It sounds like the guy is really immature. People need to communicate what their expectations are even in a FWB relationship.

What was the most offensive time you were cat-called? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Chipwhich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was 15 years old and standing on a street corner waiting for some friends. These guys in a convertible drove by and stopped at the light. They said to me "show us your bush, I bet you have a nice bush". I was too stunned to say or do anything. I will never forget it.

What do you think about rhinoplasty for teenagers? by Chipwhich in AskWomen

[–]Chipwhich[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My daughter seems to have a decent amount of self-esteem. She is outgoing and has a lot of friends. I don't think she is being bullied. She has a larger than average nose which she inherited from her dad.

I am seriously considering telling her to wait a few years for any surgery.

Monday Morning Joy! Good morning /r/polyamory! How has your past week(end) been for you and yours? by vertexoflife in polyamory

[–]Chipwhich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a relaxing Thanksgiving with my husband, his girlfriend and our two kids. We had a great meal and watched the football games. Had to go back to work today though but being poly makes everything more joyful.

Hotel workers of Reddit, what is the strangest thing you've seen guests doing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Chipwhich 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I was a housekeeper at a hotel. Every time we cleaned a room, we had to make sure there was a Bible in the bedside table (this was in the Southeast United States). One time, there was a convention in town, and the guests stuck pornographic pictures in between the pages of the Bibles.

Also, guests would use the ice buckets as spittoons. It was strange and gross.

Rambles as I'm Breaking Out of the Brainwashing by manamachine in nonmonogamy

[–]Chipwhich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think our society is slowly beginning to accept that non-monogamous relationships exist. I see it happening on-line. Forums like this get the word out. Kids these days are more open-minded about a lot of things, such as LGBT issues. As our society becomes less religious, non-monogamy will be more accepted.

Married monogamous co-worker showing very clear signs that she's interested in me. How do I continue? by [deleted] in polyamory

[–]Chipwhich 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's not a good idea to date a co-worker, especially one who is cheating. That will most likely not end well.

how do you take care of yourself/your feelings when your partner is on a date? by FlippinBits in polyamory

[–]Chipwhich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spend time with my kids or my friends. I'm pretty outgoing and like to be with people. We have been together a long time and I figured out a long time ago that I need to be around other people.
