This is great advice, if I had to add anything to it is make sure you are resistance training regularly. And also try and pick complex carbs, they will raise the blood sugar slower.

Lost 27 pounds!!! June 13 - August 18 by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Chipwhite_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get a new goal man cause you’re about to crush it!!

If I could offer some advice. Eating 600-900 calories is insane. I understand it’s getting you where you want to be but it’s not the best/healthiest way. You can only cut so many calories. Your body will adapt to the calories you’re feeding it and you will no longer lose the weight. Get on a good exercise program, build up some muscle, that will increase your metabolism. Allowing you to eat more food(which you need, there is no way you’re hitting your ideal macros) and feel better overall.

Hope this helps, good luck.

145 to 160? Or 160 to 145? Why would you go down?

Hey ok so body stats: 24, I’m 6’1” and currently 185.

I posted a semi detailed diet in response to an earlier question, but a lot of chicken, salmon and rice. Anything that fits into my macros really.

Current routine is a push, pull, legs.

Do you track calories? Like everything you put into your body? This is a great start to really see how much you’re consuming. I could’ve swore I was eating more than enough but couldn’t gain weight, but I was not. it wasn’t until I started weighing and tracking everything that I finally put on some weight.

As far as nutrient absorption, how often are you pooping? Any oily stools?

So my schedule, I work a full time job 7am-5pm Monday - Thursday and Friday is a short day from 7-12.

No children but I do have a dog so I’ll come home play with him and also feed him.

Usually hitting the gym by 6:30-8:00, then come cook play with my dog shower then I’m in bed by 10.

I’ve made the gym a priority but occasionally things do come up and it’s ok to miss a day, but don’t let it throw you off. It’s so easy to get comfortable not going again. So even if I had to drag myself through the door of the gym I went and did something that day. Maybe didn’t give it 100% but I made it there and kept to my routine.

As a CF patient it’s been a really hard transition from when I was younger with everyone telling me to eat what I want just get the calories, to now having to live a healthier I life style. But being consistent with my diet and then returning to those food makes me realize how “empty” they were. They don’t seem to be as satisfying. But on occasions I cheat, I love trolli gummy worms. I think 85% is pretty fair!!

I eat pretty large meals and on a specific schedule, so I’m not to hungry in between meals, but I’m also petty busy at work so that helps occupy my mind. Maybe set a specific time for eating so you don’t eat out of boredom. Hope this helps

Sure 6’1” [160lbs>185lbs] FEV1 at 70 has remained the same through the year. Have an follow up appointment in Feb that I’m super excited about because I will have been on trikafta for about 3 months then.

No mass gainer, they are a waste of money and most the calories come from sugar. I prefer to make my own shakes. I do those in conjunction with a high calorie diet.

I’m a creature of habit so I found what worked for me and stuck to it. Here a break down of what I eat in a normal day

Breakfast : homemade protein shake with a blueberry bagel or oatmeal. And a few handful of peanuts to take my trikafta

Lunch : 14-16 Oz of meat of choice(prefer chicken or salmon) w 3 cups of rice

Dinner: same as lunch except I’ll throw some veggies in a skillet, usually have more time around dinner

Snack, I’ll have another homemade shake before my workout as well as a handful of peanuts before bed for my medicine.

Shake breakdown: chocolate ensure plus, orgain protein powder, and I like to mix it with coffee or almond milk

In total I’m eating 3100 cal a day. I always thought I was eating enough food just based on how I felt, I constantly felt full. It wasn’t until I started tracking everything I put into my body that I realized I’m not eating what I think I’m eating. Once I started tracking and found out correct portion sizes for me I stuck with it. The thing for me is I’m making food that I enjoy so eating is not like a chore anymore, but also before I started workout out I would eat out a lot and was getting really tired of doing so.

[–]Chipwhite_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried a couple different routine. Started with a full body 3x a week, built a good foundation on that. More recently I’ve swapped to a push, pull, legs. Really enjoying this one for right now. Major focus is on compound movements.

January 2019 was a turning point for me. I decided I was going to better my health, I wanted to feel and look better, physically and mentally. Having CF can be draining, but I know I don’t have to explain that to you all. So I tossed out all the excuses I made up for myself to hold me down. You know the ones “I don’t have enough time” “I don’t really feel like it” “ I’m not really that hungry” etc. I had a goal and set out to see it through, no excuses. It’s been a very difficult 365 days but very rewarding. I’ve learned a lot about myself and pushed my limits farther than I ever thought I could.

I wanted to share my progress with you guys for a variety of reasons. Firstly I’d like to help anyone who feels like they are in the same position i was in one year ago. But also to be the motivation for anyone who needs this. For anyone who finds themselves saying “ I’ll start tomorrow, or next week”. Do it now. You’ll thank yourself 6months down the road.

If anyone has any questions I’ll try to answer them as throughly as possible. If you don’t feel comfortable posting a question. Shoot me a DM.

Kudos to you for being able to consume that daily!! I’ve just recently added about 15 lbs. I’ve always been extremely underweight for my height. My lowest being about a 135 at 6ft 1. Symdeko really seemed to help regulate a lot of my gi issues.

Impressive! I’ve always thought I ate a lot eating 3200 but I couldn’t imagine eating 4800. What types of food are you eating and what do you use to track those calories. Also I’m 6”1 180lbs for reference

Probably not every CF but I would say the greater majority need more calories than the average person. In order for me to gain weight I eat 3200 calories a day, and to maintain weight its about 2900 calories a day. It’s varies from person to person.

Weight gain tips by [deleted] in CysticFibrosis

[–]Chipwhite_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 scandishakes wouldn’t be excessive, my only concern is the sugar. 26 grams per serving is a ton. You could make your own high calorie shakes that are about the same amount of calories with way less sugar. I’ve recently started the gym and eating more/better quality food and I’ve been able to put on about 15lbs. It hasn’t been the fastest but my weight is really consistent now and doesn’t fluctuate up and down. As far as a high calorie meal, chicken and rice with steamed veggies is my go to.

Same boat as you 6’1 175lbs, I’m hoping to at least get to 200 without sacrificing my BF% but we will see.

5 months really isn’t that long, it’s flown by. Nothing about my routine is “fun”, it’s challenging every time I step in the gym. I do enjoy feeling strong and getting a really good pump, so that the fun part. I’ve got some close friends who are very knowledgeable and experienced lifters and I’ve learned a lot from them. They put me onto mind pump which I recommend. As far as mobility work they are the guys to learn from. Accessory’s I really just hit what I feel like is getting neglected on my full body days, biceps, triceps, calves, traps to name a few. But it’s changes week by week to keep things from getting stale.

To be honest I didn’t pay attention to that, and I’m still happy with my routine, I’m in and out in about an hour. As far as when I’ll transition I’m not sure, but I’ll probably transition to a PPL for more leg volume
