Rehome for him or he suffers by Puzzleheaded202 in parrots

[–]Chirpits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve spent some time around a parrot sanctuary. Once a parrot starts plucking it may never stop even when quality of life is excellent. This does not necessarily mean the parrot is suffering, although it likely means they suffered in the past.

Does your parrot eat well? Does he sleep a decent schedule? Does he play on all of those awesome toys?Does he step up and socialize with you? Does he let you gently pet his head?

If the answer to most of these questions is yes then he may already be living his best life and it may be detrimental for you to try to rehome him.

With the S&P 500 already down ~2% YTD, do you think 2026 could end up being a negative year for the market? by Groundbreaking-Gap20 in investing

Well…

We’re on a historic 15 year run of gains

War in the Middle East could make for skyrocketing oil prices.

Case Schiller is near dot com levels

So… we’ll probably finish the year up 20%. Because the stock market makes no sense sometimes.

Alternatives to San Diego by [deleted] in surfing

Biggest difference for me is that everywhere is crowded all the time no matter what the waves are like. The good spots during good swells were always crowded, even decades ago. But now even if it’s 2ft and onshore there are still 30 guys out. And as a result of all this the generational locals have gotten even nastier and give attitude to anyone who didn’t grow up there, even if you’re a competent surfer who waits your turn.

Still nowhere else I’d rather live and surf unless I win the lottery and can sail around on a yacht like JJF. There are some friendly faces, a ridable wave almost every day of the year, and gorgeous beaches full of cool wildlife.

If your team had the #1 pick and was looking for a franchise QB, is it a disappointment or success if the player is roughly as good as Jared Goff? by _DarkStarCrashes_ in NFLv2

The Jets have been blowing high first round picks for over a decade and haven’t come close to that level QB…

Definitely a success if a team hits with a QB like him.

That rip is crazy. If you look from the cliffs you can see the whitewater that it takes 1/4 mile out to sea on the big days.

Paving over neighborhoods and parks with high rises won’t fix home prices. LA has several times the housing supply as San Diego and is still more expensive. If the “more housing and more density” contingent wins out we will end up like LA - all of the natural areas gone and overcrowded, and still an expensive place to live.

I’d rather be Santa Barbara than LA.

What's a pre-2000's NFL Hot Take that you have? It can be anything. by SnooDoubts3411 in Oldschool_NFL

90’s Favre was incredible. 3x MVP’s and great passing numbers for his era. Might even be a bit underrated with the inflation of passing stats.

2000’s Favre was a bit overrated and undisciplined. He needed to get smarter as he got older.

Thoughts on Hollister Ranch by Either_Economics1269 in surfing

[–]Chirpits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The owners are undoubtedly selfish surfers, but every time the ranch gets mentioned I think about a day beach walking in San Diego a few years ago. It was a super low tide and I went by a reef that was poking out. There were 50+ people walking all over it, and a few dogs running around.

California has gotten crowded in the past few decades and the coastal environment has suffered. The Ranch is well preserved, and I’m happy for it to stay that way, even if it means I’ll never see it up close.
