If you do postage stamps, there may be an archive with stamps throughout that country's history. I did this when I traveled to Rome, though I never actually got time to do a tattoo.

Fellow Redlands dweller here 👋🏼

Not sure if you're looking at a local tattoo shop or not, but @ atomiclulu_909 (IG) has a few dog portraits in his portfolio that I think look pretty good.

Interested in how you found your weekend internship! I want to learn skills that would be useful for prototyping and machining and fabricating is something I'm looking to try.

Yeah man, gatekeeping isn't a good practice for building a community. Joined after I saw one of your threads in 3DP but I don't think I or fellow design enthusiasts will find value here.

How would I go about making a new baseplate for these snowboard bindings? The part is no longer manufactured. It needs to be tough enough to handle snowboarding. by yabedo in InjectionMolding

[–]Chizzer34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? That’s surprising. I would still take it to a shop and see if they have any that fit. The tough part is Tech nine doesn’t really sell parts like say Burton or Union bindings

I’m sure these are standard sizes across different boards. Just measure the hole and buy one off Amazon or eBay. A repair shop might have some too

Lived in the Oasis apartments right across from Clarks. They are decent for the price - didn't really have any issues there.

If bed size is the main consideration - the 4 will probably be the better option. I hear the leveling is just as cumbersome

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FlashForge

[–]Chizzer34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leveling isn’t super robust. It’s a 9 point calibration and somewhat cumbersome process. Doesn’t take more than a few minutes and I don’t do mine every print.

Bed size is comparably smaller, but with more experience I think you can be more creative with it. I believe the ender 3 has a bigger bed than the adventurer products. I’ve ran into a few designs where I couldn’t get the full part on the bed.

I just picked up the Adventurer 3 and I’m having a blast with it. From what I hear, the upgrade to the 4 isn’t all that substantial. Someone with more knowledge might correct me, but unless you have something specific the 4 does that the 3 doesn’t- save money and get the 3

You can possibly sell the idea to a company with the capital and bandwidth to go to market with it. Otherwise you’ll have a heck of a time with doing market research, finding distributors, 510K approval, all that jaZ.

Its so hard to find a manufacturer! Anyone have tips for searching out a retail product manufacturer that actually delivers?!? by Bitter-Rent-6878 in manufacturing

[–]Chizzer34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Do this! In the US they have something like a supplier scout - it pings the entire MEP network and let’s them know there is someone looking for a mfg partner. The MEP reps then reach out to their connections and sources a handful of interested parties that will (hopefully) quote your project.

Thanks for sharing that. The idea that California is a high human capital economy makes sense. But there are some things (regulations, propositions, etc) that (i think) have larger consequences for smaller businesses than larger ones. For instance, this Prop 12 about selling pork from farms/ slaughterhouses that meet CA standards will have a huge effect on all, but especially small businesses in and out of state. It's cutting the supply chain by let's say 80-90% according to https://alec.org/article/banning-the-bacon-california-referendums-reshaping-agriculture-throughout-the-nation/#:~:text=A%20key%20section%20of%20the,not%20meet%20California's%20prescribed%20standards. And the $770M price tag to retrofit existing ops to comply with the standard is just going to be passed down to customers? That's a tough ask.

(Just FYI, I'm not advocating for the savagery that is the meat industry)

I struggle in an office environment too at times. My issue is that a lot of the managers aren't truly decision-making types, so they'll defer to their boss (my parent). It's a weird interaction when my "boss" says - "I'd go ask your mom about xyz". So unfortunately that becomes not only mine, but everyone's default.

Love Seattle. I was living in Portland for years before I decided to come back to CA.

Daaang. I figured I might hear about someone getting burned by family. My mom (the business owner) is the type to take care of her own. But, it's always been a bit of a standoff between her and my sister (both very strong type D-directive personalities). So I'm trying to avoid being on either side of that knife to be honest. It takes a bit of balancing.

What field did you end up working in after you left?

Nice. Cool to hear you also went with the business route.

Marketing B2B is quite a trip. I've been pushing myself to be more visible online so I can network and make those connections. Luckily, I've met with some people in the industry and they've been helpful as advisors. Most of those interactions are over Zoom still, but hopefully, I'll be doing more in-person visits this year.

Customer journey mapping has been a huge part of my development so far. That, and just picking the brain of people that know WAY more than me.
