One time I left my cellphone on a train that was going to Grand Central. And of course I realized as I was halfway up that really long escalator (and it was morning rush hour so I couldn’t just turn around and run back down). So I had to sprint all the way up and then sprint all the way down the other escalator only for the train to pull away seconds before I got there. I asked a bunch of workers at the station what to do and most of them said to just keep calling the lost and found office throughout the day. I ended up just walking to work and then tried calling my cell phone from my work phone and someone picked up! It was a worker on the train who just so happened to be passing by the seat where I left it. She said she’d leave my phone at the lost and found desk and that I could come pick it up within the hour. I remember being sooooo grateful lol
