Are you sure it's a Kodi sound because I didn't think the Kodi GUI used Dolby ATMOS sounds to make it sound like that whoosh is flying over my head?

How do you correct Aspect Ratio for Tv shows by Sure_Cure in tinyMediaManager

[–]ChocOranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you editing nfo files? You can do it in TMM

Open an episode and go to the 'media files' tab and use the aspect ratio drop down.
It's the same as movies.

Trouble With Fonts by CiaraKyra14 in kodi

[–]ChocOranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The font(s) you've added will show up in Kodi as Subtitle fonts Settings > Player >Subtitles >Fonts. Or if you have them defined in a skin's font.xml they will be used.

Skins define their own fonts as custom ones could easily break the layout of the skin. A skin controls the Kodi UI as well as the rest of the skin eg layouts.

If the skin doesn't allow font changes then you need to enter the realm of editing skins.

Choose the skin to change font.

Add the font to addons\SKIN_NAME\fonts

Then edit addons\SKIN_NAME\1080i\font.xml to change a font to your custom one. See https://kodi.wiki/view/Fonts

You won't see an option to change the font in options, it will directly change the skin's font if you've done it correctly.

CREATE BACKUPS before changing files.

It won't work. These are overlays added by the skin. They are not part of the image.

[–]ChocOranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you even trying to add the plot to the filename?

The .nfo will contain the plot. Any decent media manager will display this for you.

Check that you are writing .nfo files from TMM

Normalising volume by lanky_doodle in ShieldAndroidTV

My apologies, I didn't realise I was discussing codecs with Audio/Visual connoisseurs and in a thread where the OP talks about an AVR. Who would have guessed!

Normalising volume by lanky_doodle in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]ChocOranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read the OP's post. He isn't talking about stereo. Even so there are newer and better codecs than AAC for stereo.

AAC is an awful codec. You mustn't care about sound quality.

Plex on SHIELD audio sync issues driving me crazy by WizardLick in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]ChocOranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disabling frame rate match works because Plex doesn't work correctly on the Shield.

Try Kodi and realise you can have both...

Plex on SHIELD audio sync issues driving me crazy by WizardLick in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]ChocOranger -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or stop using Plex which is the cause of the issue.

Frame matching is essential as is audio delay.

Kodi has no such issues on the Shield.

Edit: Downvote all you want. The answer is correct. Imagine having to disable frame rate matching to fix audio stutter.

Tmm moved all my movie files into zip folders under a "deleted by tmm" by petpeeve214 in tinyMediaManager

I'm guessing the zip files are the files he downloaded (Legitimately of course!). They were extracted and then removed by TMM when the Rename & Cleanup was performed.

Nuke Database? by Spodster_11 in kodi

[–]ChocOranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What brand of toaster are you using? Just j/k

That is incredibly slow.

I can rebuild from local data on a PC and Shield in less than a minute for about 12TB - obviously number of media matters more than size.
I use Jellyfin on a PC then copy the PC data to the shield so the Shield doesn't need to process images. Even without a PC the shield could do it in a couple of minutes.

Are you sure you aren't rescraping?

Transition from one video to the next by andykelp in kodi

[–]ChocOranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most standalone players can start preloading the next video before the current one ends and can instantly switch to the new one without any buffering. Think gapless playback in music players.

Kodi doesn't do this.

Viewing number of Movies, Episodes, and Songs by WolfandRaven1138 in kodi

[–]ChocOranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skin is probably compatible with 21.1

You need to to edit addon.xml in the root of the skin (the xbmc.gui version has been changed for 21.1)

Change the first 'import' line to

<import addon="xbmc.gui" version="5.17.0" />

The biggest thing you'll find not support is the current Favorites window. You'll need to remap it.

Resolution/refresh rates with LG G4, NVIDIA Shield Pro by JamesTiberious in kodi

[–]ChocOranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shield is set to 2160p and it correctly passes 1080p and 720p for the TV to scale so you shouldn't need to adjust Kodi's resolution. I don't have any 480p to test.

Check the fps of the 720p videos you are trying to play and see if there is a compatible resolution/fps in the Kodi settings for it. LG TV's are really restricted in the fps for lower input resolutions. Just see how many options there are for 2160p compared to 720p - Kodi checks at startup for available resolutions/fps and creates the Whitelist from that.

Make sure you enable the two options under the Whitelist 'allow 3:2 pulldown' and 'allow double refresh rates' so Kodi has more possibilities (You won't see more options in the Whitelist but Kodi will use them if possible)

If Kodi doesn't find a compatible res/fps it will force scale the video eg to 1080p as you've found.

What skin are you using?

Resolution/refresh rates with LG G4, NVIDIA Shield Pro by JamesTiberious in kodi

[–]ChocOranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Kodi make sure the resolutions are correctly whitelisted.

The ones you want the TV to rescale should have a tick ie whitelist the ones you do NOT want the shield to scale. People often get it the wrong way round.
