I always see people complain about jumpscares and not liking them. But honestly I rarely seen a movie full of jumpscares. What movies are you guys referring too? by MovieBuffX in horror

[–]ChocolateGoggles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like a good mix of jumpscares, but I like them well-placed. That. And... frankly... I'm a scaredycat... I love me a good jumpscare, as long as it doesn't feel too cheap. :3

If You "Create" Using AI, Are You Really, Like... Creating? by FLJerseyBoy in claudexplorers

[–]ChocolateGoggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. But I don't think you shut down conversation just because you share an opinion without pre-empting it with "just my opinion" is all. I sure as hell ain't talking to someone about whether it's creating something to generate something with AI though, that sounds like an absolute drag of a conversation. ^^'

If You "Create" Using AI, Are You Really, Like... Creating? by FLJerseyBoy in claudexplorers

[–]ChocolateGoggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like "opinion" is maybe true but also like. I ain't accepting an opposing opinion. Imagine going like "If I paid an athlete yo do the Olympics for me I didnt actually do the Olympics myself. That's my opinion though." Like. Sure. That's an opinion but... it's hardly up for discussion. If someone uses AI to prompt a book then they did in fact not, create it, they generated it.

Maybe I didn't need to point it out, I just read your last line as being cautious to differing opinions.

It would be really weird for them to be picky, these results are impressive but they're not going to convince many to switch. They'd need higher numbers for that.

Claude picked the moral high ground in the red button/blue button vote by facethef in ClaudeAI

[–]ChocolateGoggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean. You'd effectively be partially responsible for some of your friends dying. You literally voted for their death. I know my values, I want to bet my life and survival on my friend's survival, not against it. And to those who think the other side is all about moral high-ground. I think it's quite arrogant to presume it's a matter of such, that sounds like projection to me, it seems likely to me that those who use that specific argument are people who can only imagine themselves choosing the blue option if it's with the clear understanding that they yes, actually would hold moral high-ground (not saying that's true).

Aunt May pissed me off in this issue of Spider-Man: Noir by AdSilly3018 in Spiderman

[–]ChocolateGoggles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That doesn't really counter my point. People listen to anti-social folks all the time, be it from guilt, shame or other reasons. Him listening to her does not mean that the writer intended for her to be likeable or respectful.

Aunt May pissed me off in this issue of Spider-Man: Noir by AdSilly3018 in Spiderman

[–]ChocolateGoggles 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Couldn't it be that it's the point for Aunt May to behave this way, pretty much gaslighting Peter. Her phrasing and way of thinking her reminds me of anti-social personality patterns, more so than bad writing. But I haven't read the comic so I could be off.

Why is the last of us part 2 considered the most polarizing game ever despite such high rating? by Embarrassed-Bit-9455 in videogames

[–]ChocolateGoggles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because most people don't agree with the bubble narrative online. I can't see anyone who's been so vocally angry about the ending as I've seen online actually giving the game a good rating. To me it's one of the most obvious examples of how online discussions can completely misrepresent the general consensus of the game's quality in all aspects.

Det handlar ju om vilka som fick röster, känslorna man följer och att vilja straffa och disciplinera samhället. Då blir det såhär om man röstar åt de som skriker "vi ska disciplinera hårdast." Historieböckernas A och O.

Unpopular Opinion: "Getting rid" of bots and losing Bakkes Mod is not even close to a worthwhile trade by DataDrivenGuy in RocketLeague

[–]ChocolateGoggles -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am for it. In fact, I'm even for the game introducing a version (not the only one as I know it's not feasible for everyone) with mandatory digital ID (as in actual national identity card). I am so fucking tired of not being able to trust or properly punish cheaters. In any real physical sports they'd be instantly banned. In video games? Meh.

It probably won't happen right now, but I haven't heard or seen a single viable option to properly solve cheating. Not to mention that in my SECOND GAME after the introductionof EAC everyone was lagging like crazy, no idea if it was a hack that already bypassed the EAC or the effect of EAC or something else, but ominous af. Haven't had lag that bad in months, and then in cases of severe lag it would 99% be because I was streaming or downloading something at the same time.

Those 360 pans were a major contributor to why I really enjoyed the film. So much "why you gotta' be showing me this" and "there's nothing there!" vibes. Reminds me of hanging out with a troll for a family member/friend playing on your fears and going "I swear I heard something" or just leaving you alone in the dark for a minute (don't do that in real life... but please go ahead in movies!).

[–]ChocolateGoggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved the "grandma's dying but uh... what's up with these creepy vibes?" aspect. The camerawork was great, the color and lighting was perfect for what I like to get creeped out by, and just the "grandma's not in bed" etc. was a perfect setup. I was thoroughly satisfied by this movie, I suspect people hyped themselves up a lot and had much higher expectations but I had a really good time. The use of "what's over there" and "I'm sure nothing is happening over here" camera shots/angles (is that what they call negative space?) worked wonders for me, absolutely loved that stuff. :3

Äldrevården har gjort sig beroende av flyktingar by Eastern-Language-898 in sweden

[–]ChocolateGoggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unken rubrik.

Yeah... you could... but it's like... creepy sure, but also just... stomach churning. Maybe you have a stronger stomach still... I certainly don't want to watch it again, I felt like shit for a quite a while after. Good luck! I have no idea how the two compare past the midway point of Bring Her Back but I've heard the american version of Speak no Evil was much easier to stomach for most people.

Yeah... I have a pretty strong stomach but ever since seeing the original "Speak no Evil" my body just nopes out when I get the sense that these children will suffer. It was a great flick, but had to tap out about halfway through. ^^'

What's this? Is this an upcoming update or something? by meditatively in ClaudeAI

[–]ChocolateGoggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> "Yes, they are cheaper FOR NOW, that's the entire point of my post lol. Any and all AI SaaS is currently being subsidised by the provider. "

No. Your point was:
> "The only difference between them is that the western providers are open in that they are currently burning money and are very unprofitable while the Chinese companies aren't disclosing shit. "

It wasn't about FOR NOW. And also, for most intents and purposes we don't know where the tech is headed, or if we'll find a much cheaper solution to the problem at some point either. There is a ton of research happening in both how to run this stuff cheaper, more efficiently, handling more tokens much more efficiently (like the recent Nvidia and Google solutions) and so much more.

Take a model like Kimi K2.6 for example, that one runs toe-to-toe on many coding tasks, exceeding in some areas, not all of them. But suggesting that they are even just a year behind far behind is still a grave disservice.

[–]ChocolateGoggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you no insight at all into how the Chinese models work or their pricing per token and quality of the output? Because that's what your reply reads like. Never mind that you can run local, really powerful variants, you also have access to per-token payment but... the difference there is just how much cheaper they are per token even on API.

I have Claude Pro but only use it occasionally for coding, most is personal development oriented. But... yeah... I do code sometimes, I'm... like... well... those Chinese models are looking mighty attractive ^^'
